METZGER: Martin Johannes

METZGER:  Martin Johannes Metzger, of RR 1, Dashwood, was born and baptised on December 23, 1935 and was received into the loving arms of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the early hours of Saturday, April 1, 2023, at his residence, at the age of 87.  Beloved husband of 58 years to the late Brigitte Dorothea (Heim) Metzger (2021).  Loved father and father-in-law of Matthias and Monika Metzger of RR 1, Dashwood, Gerhard and Heike Metzger of Hensall and Angelika and Stephen Weiss of Colorado.  Cherished grandpa of Marc Metzger, Sabrina and Shaun Doyle, Stephanie Metzger and Jarrett Johns, Jason Metzger, Jonah Weiss, Thea Weiss, Lena Weiss and Micah Weiss.  Treasured great-grandpa of Deacon Doyle, Kye Doyle and Mason Johns.  Dear brother and brother-in-law of Friedhelm Metzger and his wife Rose, Susanne Kaucher and her husband Rolf, Dorthea Reese-Heim and her husband Jens all of Germany.  Remembered by his nieces, nephews and their families.  Predeceased by his parents Hermann and Angelika (Kast) Metzger, brother Gerhard Metzger and brother-in-law Hansjörg Heim.   Martin and Brigitte were farming in Germany for many years and made the decision to move their family and immigrate to Canada in 1988 and settled in the Dashwood area.  Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood with a private family visitation.  Family and Friends are invited to the Funeral Service at the Zion Lutheran Church, Dashwood, on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 11 a.m.   Rev. John E. Trembulak III Officiating.  Interment Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Dashwood.  If desired, memorial donations (payable directly) to the Zion Lutheran Church, Dashwood, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Our deepest condolences for the loss of your father and grandfather.

Martin was a always pleasant man. He was very proud of his family; helping to build and support a great family business.

A farmer at heart coming from Germany, he would wear the right hat at the right time and always help where he was needed.

He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
