McKENZIE: Laureen Helen (Kinzie) of St.Thomas and formerly of Lucan and Preston

Peacefully at her home in St. Thomas on Saturday, March 24, 2018, formerly of Lucan and Preston in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Gary McKenzie (2002) for over 41 years. Loving mother of Laura and Brad Summers of St. Thomas, and Lisa McKenzie of St. Thomas. Dear twin sister and sister-in-law of Larry and Carol Kinzie of Preston. Predeceased by an infant brother Glenn, brother Gordon (Isabel) Kinzie, and sister Marjorie (Don) Black. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and many friends.  Thank you to Dr. Walter Lock and Pat Campbell for their care and compassion.  Heartfelt thanks to her nurses especially to Angela (her angel), Linda, Jenn, and Alicia from Care Partners and her PSW’s.  Gary and Laureen made their home in Lucan for over 38 years.  She drove school bus for over 29 years out of Medway High School.  Laureen was the driving force in her family.  She instilled in them the value of making sure their actions in life would make the family proud and to always be kind and generous.  We are going to miss her very much, especially her laugh.  We picture her arriving in Heaven greeting our dad and telling him “his vacation is over” and that he needs to “get out of his lawn chair and get to work”.  His response to her will be “Laureen behave yourself”.

Cremation with a private family interment in Kinzie-Bean Cemetery, Doon. Arrangements entrusted to Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan (519-227-4211).

Donations to the Middlesex County Library – Lucan would be appreciated by the family.

So very sad to hear of your Mother’s passing. Our friendship goes back to the early days when we all moved to Langford Drive in Lucan. Lots of wonderful old neighborhood memories. Watching you girls grow up with our kids. She organized a neighborhood reunion last year in St Thomas that was memorable. Cherish all your wonderful memories.

Sending sympathy and admiration for the love you showed your Mom on her last journey. She showed you how to give the most precious gift , her time spent taking care of your Dad. You in turn gave of yourselves showing great love and respect for her. I spoke with your Mom just a week ago and she was grateful for the time at home surrounded by your love and care. Now take good care of each other. Laura, Brad and Lisa!
