MCKELLAR: Gwendolyn “Gwen” Muriel (Clark) (Baker)  of Zurich

Passed peacefully, surrounded by family at Jessica’s House on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the age of 98. Loving mother of Gary Baker & friend Leaha, Bonnie & Dan Cronin, Ted & Nadine Baker, Marilyn Marriott, Jim & Cindy Baker, and Jane Baker & Sebastian Scala. Cherished mother-in-law of Elena Baker and Shielgha Baker. She leaves behind a legacy of 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Gwen was predeceased many years ago by her parents, Grenville & Muriel Clark and 2 sisters. Also, predeceased by daughters-in-law Shirley Baker, Marie Baker, and Sharon Baker, grandchildren Darrel Cronin and Shaun Peachy, and sons Murray Crerar, Ross Baker, and Jack Baker.

Gwen spent many years working for the public, serving the community. She was recognized for her work volunteering as a cancer patient transport driver, and at Blessing’s Store in Zurich, as well as her role as a secretary for the Huron County Seniors Games. Gwen grew up in Mitchell and shared many fond memories of her time there throughout the years.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to all the PSW’s from OneCare who took such good care of Gwen while she was still at home. All of you went above and beyond for her. The family would also like to extend a huge thank you to all the staff at Jessica’s House.

Visitation will be held at Kingsfield – Zurich Mennonite Church, 37818 Zurich Hensall Road, ZURICH on Thursday, November 6th from 9:30 – 10:30 AM where a memorial service will follow at 11AM.  Cremation with interment at Woodland Cemetery, Mitchell.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Jessica’s House.

I offer my sincere condolences to the entire Baker family on the loss of your mother. I well remember her from the time when we were kids and you lived only a stone throw from us. We had good times with you and were always respected by your mother and dad. No matter where i was in my later years and we met she was happy to talk about old times. She was one of a kind.

Gwen was a volunteer of the One Care Dining Program for several years until she became a client of the program.
It was always nice seeing her and having a chat.

Gwen will be truly missed by all. She was always positive even when she lost her son Jack. I am sure her great personality and her desire to see good things happen by digging in and helping rubbed off on Jack as he as well since that was the way he operated on this earth. Gwen had a very strong prayer life as well. I am sure they are rejoicing together now. Our deepest condolences to the family.
