Loving and proud mother of the late Shirley Schuurs (Henry) and Barry Thiel (Karen). Dearest grandmother of Erin Schuurs and Melissa, Kaitlyn, Brandon and the late Samuel Thiel. Dearest great-grandma of Emma and Jacob Martinez. Helen admired Hugh’s girls, Bev and Karen and their children.  Dear sister of the late Bert Brown (Helen). Helen was close to and held in high regard the Thiels and their extended families that were part of her first husband’s family (Lewis). Helen worked at the Hensall District Co-op as an accountant for many years. She cherished her time there and absolutely loved her job. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Hensall and was also the treasurer. Helen was a natural caregiver and helped many relatives and friends throughout her time on earth.

Condolence from Beth Kreutzkamp on October 4th, 2018 12:06 PM

I’m sorry and sad that Terry & I were unable to come to Aunt Helen’s funeral. As a little girl I remember her being a willing helper to mom, with the bookkeeping for Dad’s silo business. …Also delicious meals she made for our family! Aunt Helen was an inspiring and strong lady!! I’m so sorry for your loss, Henry, Barry & Karen and family.

Helen was a special lady. She was so caring and kind to all. I know she, June, and my Mom, Marjorie McKay, enjoyed many happy times together. She was so attentive to Mom with calls and visits in her end years. Helen had great stories to tell and was so proud of her family. We are so sorry for your loss. May God comfort you at this difficult time. Bonnie and Robert Griffiths

Condolence from Carol Belchamber on October 15th, 2018 7:59 PM

Barry and Karen, Henry and Erin,
Please accept our condolences in Helen’s passing. I spent many summer days playing with Shirley at the house, helping in the garden, making mud pies too! Helen was a strong lady, much to be commended. She’s at rest, after a long life.
So nice to read all the messages above.
Carol (Gascho) and Brian Belchamber
