MCINDOE: David “Dave” Charles
Posted By On September 21, 2023 @ 12:00 AM In Dashwood,Exeter,Obituary | 30 Comments

In Grand Bend, Ontario, the local banter just got a touch quieter. On September 21, 2023 David Charles McIndoe, born May 22, 1953, decided he had too many books to read in the great library in the sky and took his indomitable wit and sense of humor with him.
Loving and dedicated husband to Kristie McIndoe for a whopping 47 years, David was the kind of man who’d tell you exactly what he thought, but in the funniest and kindest way possible. Kristie may have been the Queen of his Castle, but Dave? Well, he was the Court Jester.
David’s role of super Dad to his only son Skyler McIndoe was always filled with wisdom – dedicating years of his life driving to sporting events and practices, his commitment to his family was unmatched. Also a caring and devoted grandfather to Skyler and Tristan McIndoe’s 4 children, he could always be counted on for grandfatherly advice to Mathias, Finlay, Elijah, and Abbigail. Rest assured, kiddos, every quirky word was a testament of love.
Sharp, intelligent, and always quick with a joke or a sassy comeback, David was the kind of guy who was a little crazy, but owned it. You could always trust him to be genuine; if he laid it out for you, it was with kindness… and probably a side of playful sarcasm.
For those wanting to honor Dave’s memory, might we suggest diving into a good book or telling a wildly inappropriate joke at a family gathering? Because that’s exactly what Dave would have done.
At Dave’s request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.

I’m so sorry to hear of Dave’s (Dad’s) passing .
He fought so darn hard to overcome the monster he was dealing with to stay with you and continue to be the best Grampa and head of the pack for you all …
It must have been so very sad and hard to watch him suffering and going through all his treatments.
If only he could have won his battle….
He will be watching over you all now and I’m sure some tricks up his sleeve
I remember him as so kind and generous and thoughtful… Bob always had a few laughs with him…and I always enjoyed conversations with him.

Always genuine.
I do recall Dave being very interested in some of the books I read.
