Condolence from The Lord Family on April 1st, 2019 12:53 PM

Dear Dianne, Kelli and Matthew

We do not know where to begin – what a great loss to our community!

Brian’s banter with our family – at the hockey rink – on the volleyball court – on the street – at KFC – I guess everywhere … will be sorely missed!

Brian was a wonderful person who would do anything for his friends, family and employees. He always had a ‘smarty’ comment but he said it with great humour!!! He also always wanted a comeback ☺

Our deepest sympathy to all of you and your families!

I will always smile as I remember Brian showing up often at my Grade One classroom at Exeter Public School – and hosting an on-the=spot “Show and Tell” session….with bunnies, or chicks, or ducklings…or even a horse.
Later he was a great “first boss” at KFC to both of my kids as teenagers.
Thinking of his family during this sad chapter in your lives.

Condolence from Ross and Deb Caslick on April 1st, 2019 4:48 PM

Dianne and family. So sorry to h ear
the news. When ever we met he always set the bar very high. The sky could be falling , and he would simply shrug his shoulders , roll his eyes and chuckle; Made you want to do better. His family , his friends, his horses and his home , he was happy. I don’t know how I became grandpa , but I never asked. Up at the crack of dawn to pick eggs, he always found time to deliver a flat of eggs. Thanks Brian for everything.

Condolence from Christina Sanburn on April 2nd, 2019 12:09 AM

Di, Kelli and Matty (the brats)
I would like to send my heartfelt sympathies to and the rest of your family.
I was the former manager of KFC in Wingham. On several occasions I would travel to Exeter KFC to work, pick up or return product or just to visit. Never would I go without snacks for Brian though. We spoke pretty much every day on the phone if we were at work. Usually Brian had a computer question, as he so loved technology. Always greeted by-Hi Gomer, How are you today? Are we crying yet? Always had a story to tell and would make me laugh.
He has touched so many lives and I’m so very honored that I was one of them.
Brian-Hope you have endless snacks!
Fly High My Friend

Christina

Condolence from Carissa Desjardine on April 2nd, 2019 11:22 AM

Dianne, Kelli and Matt, I am so sorry for your loss. Brian truly was one-of-a-kind. As one of his former ‘cats’ at KFC, Brian and his “magic dust” left such a huge impact on the people who were fortunate enough to work for, and along side him. Brian’s fun-loving approach to life, problem solving and laughter, sometimes at your expense, were truly inspiring as he, most usually silently, fought a tough battle. His sense of humour, “Hi-Gomer” phone calls and tales will always put a smile on his face. I consider myself lucky to have considered Brian a former boss, and a lifelong friend. Treasure your special memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

We certainly don t have to tell you how funny Brian was. He was a hard worker and always had time to talk, whether at work, in the grocery store or at the soccer field many years ago. He would always talk about the old bird and the brats , with a twinkle in his eyes and much proudness. If you asked him how he was, he always made his burden to be small. It didn’t matter what you talked about his quirky sense of humor always made you smile. Rest In Peace Brian and God bless your family.

Brian was one of a kind! Always a pleasure to run into him, for a quick update on our families and each other. He was always upbeat and positive, even during times when he had every reason not to be. I remember him telling our Jennifer as a young girl to to sure and ask the tooth fairy for $10.00 for the front tooth she had just lost. Apparently it was the going rate according to Brian. Thanks for the memories.

I worked across the highway from KFC back in the eighties. And I have great memories of Brian making his rounds after the lunch rush ended, always smiling, always with something good to say. Sometimes he’d bring us some chicken, sometimes he would just pop in to say “hi”. I was sad to hear of his passing and the illness which took that sparkle away from friends and family far too soon. He lived his life with such joy and we cannot help but miss that great big smile. I am so sorry for your loss.
