I was the former manager of KFC in Wingham. On several occasions I would travel to Exeter KFC to work, pick up or return product or just to visit. Never would I go without snacks for Brian though. We spoke pretty much every day on the phone if we were at work. Usually Brian had a computer question, as he so loved technology. Always greeted by-Hi Gomer, How are you today? Are we crying yet? Always had a story to tell and would make me laugh.

I was the minister at Caven for a few years. Liked to stop by KFC to see how Brian was and chat. Was saddened to hear of his death. What a dear heart he was. We had some good talks. There are a number of “old ladies” including me who will miss him.

We certainly don t have to tell you how funny Brian was. He was a hard worker and always had time to talk, whether at work, in the grocery store or at the soccer field many years ago. He would always talk about the old bird and the brats , with a twinkle in his eyes and much proudness. If you asked him how he was, he always made his burden to be small. It didn’t matter what you talked about his quirky sense of humor always made you smile. Rest In Peace Brian and God bless your family.

Dear Dianne, Kelli, and Matthew,

My sincere condolences on the loss of your husband and father, Brian. I met Brian while I was teaching at Exeter Public School. The students and I looked out the window one day and there was Brian with his horse inviting us out to meet them. A one of a kind experience but then, so was Brian. I very much enjoyed our chats when he was into the school on KFC days. Brian had a great sense of humour and was always so positive. I am sure you will miss him dearly. Once again, so sorry for your loss.

Deepest Condolences, Brian’s smile in that photo says it all. It was a pleasure to have known him. Never a complainer and definitely a kindred spirit in his wit and penchant for a good joke. Brian loved to get a smile out of everyone at all times. One time I stopped at KFC with my 2 kids. The treat of the day was suppose to be a single package of Fruit Roll Up. Both of my kids walked out with a full box each with instructions from Brian to eat it all before they got home as he looked at me with that smile of his. Just one of many great memories of Brian.

Brian was one of a kind! Always a pleasure to run into him, for a quick update on our families and each other. He was always upbeat and positive, even during times when he had every reason not to be. I remember him telling our Jennifer as a young girl to to sure and ask the tooth fairy for $10.00 for the front tooth she had just lost. Apparently it was the going rate according to Brian. Thanks for the memories.

Both my husband and I worked for Brian at KFC when we were in high school. Although it was more than 20 years ago we still have many fond memories of working with Brian. KFC was my first job and where I met my husband. Brian taught us both the value of hard work, which is something we both carry to this day. Very sorry to hear of Brian’s passing. I worked for him in high school at my first job and my Mom got to know him through that. I only have great memories of Brian, an extremely hard working man who instilled a good work ethic in his employees, he was fair and friendly with a quick wit and great sense of humour. I worked across the highway from KFC back in the eighties. And I have great memories of Brian making his rounds after the lunch rush ended, always smiling, always with something good to say. Sometimes he’d bring us some chicken, sometimes he would just pop in to say “hi”. I was sad to hear of his passing and the illness which took that sparkle away from friends and family far too soon. He lived his life with such joy and we cannot help but miss that great big smile. I am so sorry for your loss.
