Please accept our deepest sympathy at this time. I have many memories of times long ago when John and family lived on the farm on the Morrison Line. There was always much community visiting in those days and so our families got to know each other well. John always impressed me. It appeared he had a story, and a good one, to tell. I am so pleased he was able to write his memoirs down for others to read. He was a hard worker, dedicated to the farm and all that it involved. He enjoyed people and showed it in his respect for others. I remember a day in the Doctor’s office in Hensall, when John told a story about a problem he had with his leg when he was just a young man and how the old doctor in the hospital saved his leg, and also his life by his strange method of care. It was quite a story and has stuck with me for many years. I will always remember Johnny and this story. We all have been blessed to have known him throughout our lives. God’s blessings on each of you.

Good night dear Johnnie McAllister. You have been a dear friend and good neighbour for many years to the Rowcliffe family. You will be missed but you have earned your rest. You will never be forgotten. Love Joanne and Bob Simpson.

Our hearts were deeply saddened when the news of John’s passing arrived. My father, Leonard Fisher, truly valued John’s friendship during the war years and after. I knew this man was someone incredibly special and his boundless generosity and kindness should be an inspiration to us all. RIP John… you will be greatly missed.

John McAllister was a good friend and a good neighbour to the Rowcliffe family for many years. He bought his first Jack Russell Terrier from us in 1985 and named him ‘JR’. John McAllister’s passing will leave a huge whole in our neighbourhood. John fought the good fight right until the end. He has earned his rest. God bless, Love Joanne and Bob Simpson.

Please accept our sympathy on John’s passing . He was quite a trooper, literally….wow 6 years of war-time service.

We came to know John well, when Jerry worked on Plant Maintenance at ‘Big O’. Neighbours, so to speak., he men were also enterprising. I met Ev when they took us to dinner at the ‘track’ to celebrate that enterprise.

It was good to know both John and Ev and an honour to be invited to their many elegant New Year’s celebrations, as Neil and Sue’s guests. What a great, fun-loving combined family.

We sincerely hope that Ev can find peace and healing in that wonderful, supportive family fold.

My sincere condolences to Mr. McAllister’s family. He was a kind, courageous and honourable man who will be sorely missed. I will never forget the incredible service that Mr. McAllister provided for this country during the Second World War. I had the honour to hear some of his wartime stories, and I will never forget the sacrifices he made and the role he played in the liberation of Europe.
