Condolence from Mark Heimrich on January 11th, 2025 6:23 AM

Steven, Adam, April, Jasmine & families, and all Nancy’s family & friends;

Our heartfelt condolences to all of you at this difficult time. I’ve known Nancy for almost 45 years. First, from South Huron High School and around the Exeter community. Then, really got to know her well from 30 years of her excellent service at the Exeter Cleaning Centre. Through her business, I witnessed several examples of Nancy’s outpouring of help and love to countless people, who simply needed extra assistance with one thing or another, or just needed a hand up in life. I know she was always there for her family the same way, and more.
When I stopped in with drop-offs or pick-ups, it was easy to get sidetracked chatting due to Nancy’s engaging personality. We enjoyed many, many great conversations and shared lots of laughs over those 30 years. Nancy was one of a kind for sure! I considered her a good friend and will certainly miss her. Although difficult, I will always cherish our last visit together at Victoria Hospital. She still found the energy for some smiles and laughs, even then.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rest in peace dear Nancy.

In deepest Sympathy,
Mark (& Julie) Heimrich, Sarah, Scott & Spencer

Condolence from Joanne (Morgan) and Jamie Smith on January 11th, 2025 11:23 AM

To Nancy’s family and friends our sincerest condolences.
Nancy had a special way of making everyone she met feel seen and special. She played church music for a spiritual person she supported every Sunday during his bath to make him happy. She raced out into the rain to offer an umbrella to someone with mental illness who happened to be walking by. She never hesitated to open her door and heart to the people who walked into her life. I’m so grateful to have been able to share part of my life with this incredible person. I wish her family strength now as they navigate this world without this amazing woman.

Love you Nancy. Xoxo

Condolence from Laura on January 11th, 2025 2:28 PM

Nancy loved her family, her pets, sunflowers and time spent laughing with friends.
While I had known Nancy for years we only touched base from time to time for a few years while our paths went in different directions. That was until my washing machine broke and I needed to use the laundromat on Saturday mornings till I replaced it.
For weeks there was a group of us that would sit around and laugh about old times, music and stubborn stains. I grew to love doing my laundry at the laundromat in my least put together outfits with people who didn’t judge how dishevelled I looked. I would stay far beyond the time it took to do my laundry because she made the time we all spent together feel like a social gathering of friends vs a bunch of people crossing a chore of a list of things they needed to do.

Nancy was open, honest, empathetic and so accepting of each and every person she crossed paths with. We are all better for having known her. May she rest in peace knowing she was a bright light in our lives.

Condolence from Melanie MacDonald on January 11th, 2025 4:01 PM

Nancy…
We have known each other for over 40 years.
When I think of you, I think of sunflowers, high pony tails, and karaoke. You sure loved to sing.
You always had a soft soothing way about you and I sure appreciated the heart to heart talks we had. I will miss the big waves as you would run to the door when you saw me driving by.
That choir of angles will be so sweet now.
I will miss you my friend…
Hug my boy for me…..
Till we meet again…..

My deepest sympathies to Nancy’s family and her sisters as you live with the sorrow of Nancy’s illness and passing. I had a the privilege of boarding with Nancy’s Mom and her 6 girls when Nancy was 4 or 5. I seem to recall that, for some reason, Nancy wasn’t very fond of me, but you couldn’t be in Nancy’s presence and not be fond of her. I am grateful to have met up with Nancy a few years ago and can see from the comments of others how much I missed in not knowing her during her adult years. I had hoped when I saw Natalie’s Facebook posts near Christmas time that perhaps Nancy was much better than was apparently the case, so I was shocked to learn of her death yesterday.

Condolence from Cathy Pavkeje on January 12th, 2025 8:39 AM

Heaven has gained a special angel.
There were so many attributes Nancy had that were absolutely aspiring, humbling. Her love for her children, family was evident in everyday loyalty and commitment to them.
What I found as adoring and humbling though, was her dedication to those in need. Her business was always a place anyone could come to warm up, plug in their phone chargers and have a hot drink if needed. She would randomly have pots of soup and coffee for lunch without publicity or fanfare, she did it because she cared, she was just…that..person. Nancy always knew who was in need of warm blankets or clothes that were donated at the rack and bin she had at the laundromat and delivered them if needed, she helped get at risk animals to living homes. She was kind to every living creature on this earth.
Rest in peace dear friend, there will never be another quite like you and this world and the people you’ve touched along the way have been blessed by your presence.

April,

It’s taken me a few days to reflect on what to say as words only go so far at such a sad time. As I shared with you I was so saddened to hear the news of your beautiful mom’s passing. Sometime has passed since I had run into your mom since moving back to the area but even then I was greeted with a big hug, a warm smile and catching up on all things new over the years in passing . Nancy just couldn’t believe how quickly the years had passed and how fast “all her babies” grew up. Your mom was so proud of you and all her grand babies as she couldn’t speak anymore highly of you all!

Life may have taken us in several directions over the years but know that I treasure the memories with your mom that we had as kids with such afternoons spent splashing pool side, dressed in over all’s, high tight ponies, dancing in the kitchen to the Dixie Chicks or Shania blaring in the back ground and a house filled with your moms laughter and love as she always welcomed me in and dotted on me as her own.

I can’t still remember her infectious laugh and warm energy she so freely shared with those around her. Reading all these beautiful tributes just goes to show the positive and lasting impact your beautiful mom had on so many around her that were so very blessed to encounter. I’ll forever remember and celebrate the memories we had all those years ago.

Grief is a journey with its ebbs and flows. Although your beautiful mother is now at rest she will always be with you in heart from afar. I hope the many years of love, laughter, lessons and memories shared with your mom bring peace to your heart in the years and days to come.

Sending all my love and a big warm hug. Holding you and sweet Nancy in my heart tonight and in the days to follow xo

The last time I seen Nancy was at the grocery store we had bumped into one another and we talked about the weather and the outrageous prices on the groceries and other stuff . I will miss her smile and her laughter and her curiosity about wanting updates on how my kids were doing and then she would tell me about her kids . Nancy had a big heart and you knew that she cared enough to ask questions no matter what the circumstances were, of all the years I’ve known her I truly knew we were meant to know each other I will miss her

Condolence from Kathleen Westerhout on January 14th, 2025 12:03 AM

I knew Nancy from the age of nine. I watched my dad Pieter take her under his wing and show her the ropes of managing a cleaning business. Over the years her confidence and passion grew so much so that she eventually owned the business. Nancy always led with her heart first, such a beautiful quality she will be remembered for. She cared about people and connection. She taught me the importance of staying in touch with loved ones because tomorrow is never promised.

To Steven, Adam, April and Jasmine – the loss of a mother is certainly unlike any other. Be patient and loving towards yourself in this season of loss. The waves of grief will come and go, yet she will be guiding you along the way. Much love.

Condolence from Ms. Dale Grant on January 15th, 2025 10:17 AM

Steve, April, Adam & Jasmine. Family and her many friends.

Like most of you i’ve known Nancy for many years. With all our different memories of her her memory will live on forever. My fondest memory is when I would go over and she and I would watch Prison Break. She would always say just one more episode.Just one more episode. And by the time that one more episode was over he was almost midnight. I will treasure her always. She was an awesome friend and I considered her my little sister.

Rest in peace my friend until I break my Prison bars keep the spot on that coach and we’ll continue or search for the ending. Love you always

Love love love
~Dale ~

I am both saddened and surprised to hear of Nancy’s passing. Nancy went above and beyond the weekly washing of The Garlic Box lab coats. I once took in two outdoor chair cushions in complete disrepair explaining they were my belated mother’s which I kept to sit in because it felt “like a hug”. She not only cleaned them, she hand stitched them back together; no charge and returned them to me…with a hug. This is the kind of rare woman Nancy was. Our deep condolences to the family for your loss. She’ll be missed.
