Very sad to hear the news about Sharon, who I knew for many years. She was one of the best nurses I have worked with. She loved being witn the children in the clinic. I just had dinner with her a few months ago with the staff that started the pediatic day unit at Children’s Hopsital. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed.

Dear Rick, and all loved ones of our dear Sharon,

Aunt Sharon, as I affectionately knew her, was such a generous, accepting, kindhearted soul. I treasure the time we got to spend together, even though we were only in the same country a few times after my family moved away from Canada.

Sharon was such a positive role-model to me as my Godmother, and was an inspiration in my deciding to study nursing , in her legacy. She will be deeply missed. We will always honour her in memory.

My sympathy goes out to Sharon’s family and close friends for your great loss. I met Sharon in the mid 70’s when we worked together in the hemodialysis unit at Victoria Hospital. We shared the fact we were both from close by rural communities of Seaforth and Mitchell and knew some of the same people. Sharon was always kind, caring and friendly whenever our paths crossed. May your fond memories sustain you the days ahead. Rest in peace my friend.

Condolence from Brenda and Mike Koziol on June 1st, 2020 9:56 AM

Dear Rick, Family and Sharon’s many friends,

We are so saddened by Sharon’s unexpected passing and send our deepest condolences. We fondly recall the many happy times we spent together when she drove Aunt Helen and Uncle Gordon up to Sudbury for a visit, and in later years when she and Rick came to visit us. For us, one of the huge plusses of moving to Ontario has been that we got to know Sharon and the MacKenzie family better. We got to know the amazing person that Sharon was – a person who was so kind, gentle and caring, at the same time so fun loving and adventurous.

One of the things we really appreciated about Sharon was how she was always wanting and willing to help. And she tackled things in such a patient and calming way. We recall when Sharon helped us to frame a whole bunch of family pictures when we were under pressure to get them hung on the wall before our son Derek’s wedding. She sat there late into the night, with only an occasional sip of wine, and got the job done. With the help of Sharon and Rick, we got the entire collage of pictures hung on the wall – it was great fun and due to Sharon’s considerable artistic talents, the job was so well done that the pictures are still hanging there!

We sure enjoyed travelling with Sharon on vacation trips to Saskatchewan, whether she went out West with Aunt Helen or Rick or by herself. Sharon was a lot of fun to travel with and she was always in for whatever adventures her Drever cousins had prepared. We particularly enjoyed her telling stories, playing games in the evenings, and camping adventures. She was a master at trivia, cards and even games like charades and dress-up with her much younger cousins. She said the dress-up experience came from her many years of work with kids in the hospital in London.

We miss you Sharon. Rest in peace.

Rick – still finding it hard to believe that Sharon won’t be at the next family get-together – always happy and positive – and carrying baked goods! Our families spent a lot of time together, particularly in those early years, and I never remember seeing her more than slightly upset. Her warmth and generous spirit will be missed but will live on in those that knew her. We will miss you Cousin.

To Rick,
What a beautiful graveside service and great tribute to Sharon! She was such a kind and thoughtful person. Our family always looked forward to Cousin Sharon coming out west to visit at our place and to join the Drever relatives at Elkwater, Cypress Hills, Fort Qu’Appelle and other parks. We will always cherish her winter scene painting and gurgle pot that she gave to us. Sharon touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
