Our deepest sympathies to you all on the passing of your mother grandmother and great grandmother. Lois was a great lady with lots of information and talents. She made our wedding cake 36 years ago and it was used for 3 weddings. I only disposed of it about 3 years ago and after telling Lois she said she wished she had known because she would have liked to have it for her little museum and if I had know I would have gladly given it to her. She was not afraid to address the circle of life, with death being part of it. She said that she had to teach others. “I won’t always be here” And so the natural teacher went about showing others how to do the “Seven Step” or the “Waltz Quadrille” or how you stitch that seam on a quilt. And her contribution to the historical preservation of rural life. As Harvey said ” That’s our cigarette money invested wisely”.
To the family, rejoice in having Lois as a mother , grandmother or great-grandmother. I’m sure Lois would feel like my mother said many times “When I die, have a good cry and then get on with living life. Don’t mourn for me. That’s not what I want”. Have a good cry and then smile at the wonderful memories that Lois has left you and her many friends from far and wide. When I think of her, I will be smiling. As the song that I start every Tuesday Tunes with, says “Have I told you lately that I love you, Well darling I’m telling you now”. Let us love as Lois Hodgins loved.

I extend thoughts of sympathy to the family of Lois Hodgins. Her loss will be greatly felt not only now, during the Christmas season, but through the years as well. I remember having a wonderful visit with Lois at Corbett Fun Days this summer. We talked about; you siblings taking music lessons from my Mom, Florence Hodgins; Lois’s participation in the Blyth Antique Threshing event; her experiences playing in bands and of course; the health of your father, Harvey, and the happy memories they had created together – among many other subjects. Lois’s outlook on life was always so positive. I am very thankful now that we met that day in Corbett to relive our memories. How sad to open our email messages after returning from Cuba this morning at 5:30 am to learn that cousin Lois had passed away on Sunday.
