LOFT: Ruth Aileen formerly of Ilderton

With sadness, we announce the passing of our dear sister and aunt, Ruth Aileen Loft, who passed away peacefully on October 16, 2014 in London, Ontario, at the age of 91.  Beloved daughter of the late Berrell (1971) and Neva (Haskett) (1989) Loft.  Ruth will be forever loved, remembered, and sadly missed by her family; brother Clarke Loft (2013) and his wife Doris, sisters Una Loft (2010), Mary Eadie and her husband Dan, nieces Karen Zavitz (Gerald), Ann Charlton (Todd), Beth Eadie (Jim), and Sarah Eadie (Derek) and great-nephew and great-nieces Scott, Cori, Kate and Olivia.  Aunt Ruth was a teacher, a farm girl, a talented curler, fitness buff, avid gardener, golfer, world traveler, historian, antique collector, and animal lover.  She taught us the power of acceptance, laughter and enjoying family and friends in each visit.  In her own spunky way, she never stopped teaching and testing us.  We take comfort in knowing that Aunt Ruth and Aunt Una are together once again.  We wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful group of caregivers: Jen, Jocelyn, Suzanne, Charlotte (Neville), and our cousin Marlyn Loft (Ken).  Your support allowed Aunt Ruth to remain independent and active for so long, enjoying many activities and outings.  Our sincere thanks also go to all the staff of Peoplecare, Oakcrossing.  no matter what floor you were working, or the colour of your shirt, we truly appreciate each of you for the dedicated and compassionate care shown to Aunt Ruth.

At the request of the family, a private family funeral service was held at Littlewood Cemetery, Ilderton, a place that Aunt Ruth tended with great care.

In Ruth’s memory, donations to the Nature Conservancy of Canada, Littlewood Cemetery or the Alzheimer Society are welcomed.
