LARSEN: Benita (Pries)

LARSEN:  Benita (Pries) Larsen of Grand Bend passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the age of 69.  Loved daughter of the late Irene (Bonas) Pries (2015), the late Johannes Pries (2019) and step-daughter of Heidi Pries, sister of Corina Pries (John Plestid) of Georgetown, Eric Pries (Diana) of Guelph and the late Angela Pries (1976).  Fondly remembered by Patrick (Senaa), Ryan (Leanne), Brendan (Sarah), Meaghan, Skye, Alyssia and J., as well as by her aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbours.

After many years of working as a computer programmer and systems analyst in Toronto, Benita settled in Grand Bend.  She was drawn to the beauty of its beaches, sand dunes, and shining water; all reminding her of the island of Sylt, Germany on the North Sea, where she had resided as a little girl.

Cremation has taken place at the family’s request.  Should you so desire, memorial donations made directly to One Care Home & Community Support Services (Stratford) or The Arthritis Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.  A Celebration of Life will be held some time in the future. Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.

Condolence from Karen Nice on February 2nd, 2021 12:45 PM

My deepest condolences to the family. Benita was an honest and very caring woman. The first time I met her was with a friend hanging around the pool at the condo. We has some small talk and before Benita left the pool area she asked my friend and I if she got some wine, could she come back and hang with the cool girls. We have been friends ever since. Benita will be missed and my heart broke when I learned of her passing. The last time we spoke on the phone was New Years Day. She was really struggling. Benita is at peace now.

Condolence from Sandy & Jim McCaw on February 3rd, 2021 3:12 PM

We met Benita 4 years ago when we moved into the condo complex where Benita lived. She was a lovely, gentle lady who loved to chat, and we soon learned that her name was Benita and not Bonita, she had quite a sense of humour! The first Christmas she was excited to show my husband and I her Christmas decorations in her condo, she cherished every piece, and every piece had a sentimental story, some from family and some from friends. Her last year, we kept in touch by texting back and forth, up to the week before she passed away. Our condolences to the family, we will miss Benita. Sandy & Jim McCaw

We were sorry to hear about Benita. Being both from the Toronto area and moving to Grand Bend we shared many calls, walks and stories. She was a very kind and caring person. You will be missed.
