Posted By Haskett Funeral Homes On July 15, 2026 @ 4:23 PM In Exeter,Obituary | 18 Comments

Peary passed away peacefully with family by her side at LHSC – Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at the age of 82. Cherished and loving wife of the late Arn Laithwaite (2024) for 60 years. Proud mom of Steve and Niki Laithwaite, Tammy Rinneard, and Robbie and April Laithwaite. Adored Nan of Trent (Kia), Madison (John), Troy, Braedon, and Brooklynn and great-nan of Harlow, Lennon, Frankie, and Layton. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Kim and Angela McLean, M.J. Chanyi, Ed and Pauline Laithwaite, and George Laithwaite (Bonnie). Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her parents Fran and Jock McLean and her brother John McLean, brother-in-law Ron Chanyi, and sister-in-law Julie Laithwaite.
Peary was a dedicated Lioness member for many years. She will be fondly remembered as “Henny the Hockey Hunny, Mrs. Clause, and Bertha the Birthday Fairy”. These events will be greatly missed by family and friends. Peary was the life of the party and was always up for a good joke or two, which often included taking her teeth out and slipping them into someone’s drink. You could find Peary enjoying a cold beer, and she always looked forward to family reunions on both the McLean and Laithwaite side.
A celebration of Peary’s life will be held at a later date, with details to follow.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
