KONECNY: Sharon Joanne ‘Shari’ (Coleman) of Seaforth, formerly of Zurich

Passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, September 5, 2025 at the age of 82. Born in 1943, beloved partner to John Rolland. Loving mother of Kerry Konecny (Daniel Taggart) of Kitchener and step-mother to Michelle Pavone (Joey) of Mississauga. Proud grandmother of Tyler, Sebastian, and Isabel. Dear sister and sister-in-law to Mary Lynne Drzewiecki (Henryk) and Lorraine Pieren, Claude Rolland (Brenda) and Rene Rolland (Anna).

Born in London, Ontario, daughter of Harvey and Irene Coleman of Belmont, predeceased. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by husband Edward Konecny and son Robert Konecny.

Shari was proud to become a registered nurse graduate in 1964 at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. Her career in nursing took her to Toronto.

In retirement she enjoyed time volunteering at Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich and spent many hours with John volunteering at Blessings Thrift Store, Zurich. She was a Zurich Lions Club member for 15 years. Her hobbies included sewing and knitting.

A talented maker of Lemon Pies Extraordinaire, butter tarts and muffins; when she wasn’t busy volunteering or baking, she could be found on many wonderful holidays and trips over the years.

The family wish to thank all the support staff at Huron Hospice in Clinton for their excellent care and compassion towards Shari.

Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, Seaforth on Sunday, September 14th from 2 – 4 PM.

Cremation has taken place and a private funeral will be held at a later date.

Donations to Blessings Community Store and Food Bank or the Huron Hospice would be appreciated by the family.

Shari was a most gentle and kind person. She quietly went about her years of volunteer work at Blessings, always with a caring smile. I appreciate her thoughtful gifts of knitted dishcloths, which I use daily. She will be greatly missed. John, Mary Lou and family, I send my heartfelt condolences. May the memories of Shari’s goodwill comfort you at this devastating time.

Condolence from Ross Cordell on September 7th, 2025 3:57 PM

Deepest sympathy to John and Shari’s extended family.

My late wife Susan and I have fond memories worshipping at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Zurich with Shari and John. It was always nice to see their smiling faces.

One memorable event was when Shari and John were vacationing on the island of Granada. We were on a cruise and one of our ports of call was to Granada. We arranged to meet Shari and John in Granada and enjoyed drinks and time together.

May you be blessed with fond memories of your time together.

It was our pleasure getting to know Shari (and John) at Peter’s Lutheran Church. Shari was a great addition to the church choir. Like many others, we always enjoyed her baked goodies.

John and family
I’m so sorry to hear of Shari’s passing. While I was dietary manager at Bluewater Resthome Shari and Mary Lynne joined our volunteer team by helping to provide the beverage pass to our residents. She was a great help with the task and we looked forward to her always being there to help out. I remember to you also helping with the needs at the resthome by delivering our bread order from Tasty Nu Bakery. Thank you to you both ! May you sense God’s nearness to you and yours Dawne Erb
