~ Ruthann Knights ~
July 12, 1943 – March 11, 2025
In a room filled to the brim with love, Ruthann Knights (81) passed away with her family at her side on March 11, 2025.
Formerly of her beloved home town of Bayfield ON, Ruthann is predeceased by partner, the late Peter Dunn, and her parents, the late Charles & Lulu Scotchmer.
Ruthann was the cherished mother of Kelly Knights (Dale Jones) of Brucefield, and Krista (Brian) Lloyd of Clinton. Adored grandmother of Kendra (“Kenny J”), Korbin (“Kor-bun”), Kourtney (“Miss Kourt”), Katelyn (“Katy-did”), Ashley, Zachary (“Zatch-ery”) and Matthew (“Ma-chew”). Loving great-grandmother to Caydence (“Ice-girl”), Sydney (“Slinky”), Leo (“Scooter”), Micheal, Amy, Arturius (“Artie”) and a “sweet wee babe” expected September 2025. Ruthann was assuredly welcomed to Heaven by late great-grandson Roan.
Ruthann was predeceased by siblings Patsy (Doug) Morgan and Charlene (Gordon) Porter, as well as dear special niece Faith and looked forward to seeing them all again “when she got there.”
Fondly known as “Aunt Ruthie,” she will be remembered as “the fun Aunt” by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Ruthann had a deep love for Northern Ontario, especially the Lake of Bays, Huntsville, Kearney, and Manitoulin Island, where she spent cherished time surrounded by family and friends and the beauty of nature. She longed to return to her favourite location, Montserrat, the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean.
A proud supporter of her community, Ruthann took great pride in holding the door open every Remembrance Day at the Seaforth Legion for the Clinton Legion Pipes and Drums Band to parade in. Ruthann would playfully fight anyone who would get in her way and was honoured to perform this duty for most of 30 years!
Always putting others needs before hers, Ruthann’s kindness, humour, and ability to handle any situation with grace, plus her unwavering love and support for her family will be deeply missed.
Ruthann’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Clinton Public Hospital for the excellent care and compassion of Ruthann over the years dealing with her extensive cancers and conditions. Extra special thanks to Dr. Loretta, Ruthann’s long-time physician, for many years of dedicated, compassionate, and personalized care.
In Ruthann’s words before her passing—“No tears! Just beers!”—please raise a green beer in her honour this St. Patrick’s Day.
Donations in memory of Ruthann may be made to the Clinton Public Hospital (specifically the Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit) or to Huron Hospice Bender House.
A private family internment will be held at a later date at Ruthann’s request. If you listen closely, you might hear a bagpipe or two….

Such sad news. My deepest condolences to the family.
Ruthann was such a nice lady and always fun to be around. Rest in peace. 🕊️🤍
