Condolence From: Julie (Ferris) Johansson
I was saddened to hear the news of cousin Karen. I have only a couple of childhood memories of Karen from the few times we got to meet but I hold them dearly in my heart. I was very young but remember especially sharing the excitement of a solar eclipse with my cousins in the yard at Uncle Irvin and Aunt Colleen in Moose Jaw, Sask. My heartfelt sympathy goes to Karen’s family.

Daughter of Elwin and Helen Ferris

Words cannot express how much we miss Karen. Work at the Medical Centre is not the same without her in the mall. She was a good friend and neighbour, often helping out our patients if we weren’t in the office. She was wonderful to work us in for the $1000 haircut in between patients or during lunch. We had many a visits during our workdays with much laughter and fun. Her zest for life was truly inspiring. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

My hearts go out to the entire family! Karen was a very loved woman!! I spent many many hours chilling in the shop ‘gossiping’ with Karen and her clients! I learned many a thing being there! and her and i used to giggle and chat until there was nothing left to chat about! and she loved telling people how she waxed my eye brow and ripped the entire thing off, AND i still came back!! stuff happens.. i shouldnt have been chatting with her while she was doing it i suppose! I will TRUELY miss our bi weekly visits and the love she showed to each and every person!!! Hugs!

Dear John and Family I was so shocked when my son Lee Woods called to say Karen had passed away. Needless to say Lee was very upset. He had spent many years with the Kinsman family and loved Karen like a mother. She was so good to Lee and any friend of the boys. Always made them feel right at home. Karen was always a happy person with a smile on her face. My heart goes out to her family, she will be missed dearly.

Aunt Colleen and family: It is sad to hear about the passing of Karen. Judging by the many kind and thoughtful messages on this page, Karen was a remarkable person. I hope that the heartfelt messages, from her many admirers, give you comfort and strength during this time of loss.

Condolence From: Jen Bonello ( Taylor)
John, Michelle, Richard, Jeff, Andrew and family Thinking of you all…Karen was one of a kind. To say she was a remarkable woman is an understatement. Her very positive attitude towards life was so admirable. Karen’s compassion for others and gentle spirit will never be forgotten. Please take comfort in knowing your mom and wife has left a lasting impression with so many and will be remembered and respected by all that were fortunate enough to have crossed her path in life. Think of your mom when your child asks for a lollipop or when they come home with purple hair as a teenager!! No words can fill a hole that Karen leaves, but every time you think of her, her memory lives. Karen was a little woman with a big heart. Today there is an empty spot in our hearts. May the many wonderful memories you have of Karen give you the strength to get through the difficult days ahead. May the grandchildren remember your mom through all the great memories that you have to discuss with them. A true friend…never to be forgotten…Jen

Condolence From: Kate Monk
We are all shocked and so saddened to hear about Karen. In the more than 20 years she cut my hair, she was always cheerful, greeted me with a smile and “Hey Brat” and sent me on my way with “Thanks, see you later Kate.” She has left a wonderful legacy in her family and her community and Hensall will not be the same without her. We should all be more like Karen. Take good care Kinsmans. We’re all thinking of you. Kate

To the Kinsmen and Ferris family, my deepest sympathy. I just had a wonderful visit and a $1000 haircut last Tuesday. She had a way with everyone, especially the kids, and managed to get her windows washed by them at every visit. Karen was so proud of her own children and grandchildren. Share all your wonderful memories with each other and keep them close to your heart. Hopefully, she will meet up with Bobby and Dave when she gets to there.

Condolence From: Kent, Nina, McKenna and Eden Robson
John, Michelle, Rick, Jeff, Andrew and Families, Our own experience of grief is like an ocean. In the beginning the waves knock you out. You don’t know which way is up or down, your choking and fighting for air, you have salt water in your eyes and it stings and you can’t see well. It feels horrible and it feels relentless. There seems to be no respite, it is all consuming. With time the waves start lessening and although you’re still occasionally knocked over by a big one, most of the time you’re able to stand up and be swayed by the ocean’s movements. The spray still gets in your eyes now and then and it will sting. With a lot more time, the ocean calms down for you, the water gently laps at your feet and you can sit and remember with gladness in your heart the life you shared. Karen was and still is a very special person to so many. Our thoughts are with you through this difficult time. With Deepest Sympathy, Kent, Nina, McKenna and Eden

Condolence From: Sherri Ferguson & Family

She was a ray of sunshine each and every day. I will certainly miss popping in to visit with her when I was in Hensall and hearing all the latest news and catching her up on our family’s latest news. We were so blessed to have been touched by her for so many years. I have nothing but the fondest memories of her over the years and the things she said and did and told me about. Our deepest sympathy to the Kinsman and Ferris Family. Karen certainly was a good neighbour, great friend and our family hairdresser for many years. As I know, she was a good Mother, daughter, sister, wife, Grandmother, and aunt. Karen was always cheery, very accomodating (coming to my home to cut my hair at a time of need) fitting me in at the last minute on many occasions..just this past Tuesday I had my hair cut and a wonderful visit…one I will always cherish. At our last visit, she so proudly filled me in on her trip with her family, her grandchildren, her husband and asked me about mine. I will miss her smile, friendly ways, and cheerfullness. Her “That’ll be a $1000.00,” “Do you want purple hair today?” or “help yourself to a sucker”. Rest in peace my friend, and may your family find your strength to get thru this. I know you are the brightest shining star in the sky….I’ll miss you Friend!! Thank You for always making me feel a part of the community. Rosie
