Uncle Joe was a wonderful uncle to all of us. He had a very special place in Mom&&single&&s heart. She always had lots of stories about him as a “little fellow” back at the home place. It was nice that they were able to be together for a short time at the end of their lives at the Ritz.

Condolence from Don Melady on June 13th, 2008 7:00 AM

My condolences to all the Delaneys on the death of Uncle Joe. He was a great man whom I remember especially for his warmth and hospitality and the fact that he was always interested in everything. He had a special place in Mom&&single&&s heart and she was full of stories about him when he was a “little fellow” back on the home place. I think it was nice that they had a bit of time together at the Ritz at the end of their lives.

Condolence from Debbie Melady on June 14th, 2008 7:00 AM

Sending all of the Delaney family our sincere condolences on the passing of Uncle Joe. He was a kind, generous and loving family man…and a ‘tough fella’. I especially appreciate the family’s choice of the Timothy verse – It is so very fitting! I will always have very fond memories of a great man.
You are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Debbie Melady, Ken, Jack and Vincent Wilcox

Condolence from Michael and Jan Ryan on June 13th, 2008 10:00 AM

I met Joe for the first time on April 23,2008. I remember my mother talking about the Delaneys who were her first cousins. One time when her and my dad were visiting my wife took them to Dublin and they had a cup of tea with Joe. Frank and Joe Gallagher were also my mother&&single&&s cousins and I believe it was their father John who married Margaret Delaney. My uncle Eugene sent me pictures of the gravestones in the Strathroy cemetery where I obtained this information. My grandfather Eugene Gallaher was also a musician who played violin.
Joe was pleased that I had introduced myself and established the family connection. He had wonderful sparkling blue eyes! I&&single&&m sure you all are going to miss him very much. My condolences.

Hi Jayne:
Please accept our condolences to your and your family on the passing of your father. I&&single&&m sorry I wasn&&single&&t able to attend visitation, but was thinking of you. As you already know, even when our parents have lived a long life, it&&single&&s still too soon for them to leave us. And when both are gone, there is a greater sense of loss. We are fortunate, though, to be able to keep them as part of our daily life through memories, pictures and our children………
Sincerely and with sympathy, Jane & Dean

Condolence from Jeanne Melady on June 15th, 2008 1:00 PM

I have the fondest memories of Uncle Joe. As a young person, I remember visits with Aunt Mamie and Uncle Joe at their house, as well as memorable card parties at our house with lots of laughter and chat. It was always so enjoyable to hear Uncle Joe play his violin. When Jesse came to visit, he used to like playing with Uncle Joe and it was apparent that Uncle Joe loved to see everyone else enjoy music as he did – if they played Irish songs, well then it was all the better! One time, visiting with Mom at Aunt Letty and Uncle Joe Shea&&single&&s, Uncle Joe and Aunt Mamie were there. Aunt Letty and Mom were showing us how to clog and then Uncle Joe sang Tennessee Waltz with Aunt Letty and Mom joining in to sing harmony on the chorus. Uncle Joe had such an amazing high sweet tenor voice. It was obvious they had sung like this many times before. Mom said that as a boy, Uncle Joe was always singing, both songs and fiddle tunes.

During visits at the Ritz, he was always welcoming, ready to share a cup of tea and talk about family.

Uncle Joe lived a full life and he will be missed. My sympathy is extended to the family and community.

Dear family of Joseph,
The obituary you wrote for your dad showed me how much his family meant to him and now you demonstrate that same love for him. The scripture also showed me how he showed you the way to live life: to the fullest. Lucille told me how he collected the offering for 40 years every Sunday. He is truly a man that demonstrated commitment. How fortunate you are to have had him as your dad.
We am so sorry that he has passed.
