Brother, my friend…

Your life meant so much to mine. You were always what I needed when I needed it most. Your family welcomed me in as family, and the warmth still remains.

Although we grew apart for many years, I was able to hear your voice, look into your eyes, touch your hand one last time… and say goodbye.

There are so many memories that are hard on my heart right now, but my smile will return in time, as I share those memories with others.

Return to the love from which you were made;
Rejoin with the love that went before you;
Prepare to greet the love that will follow.

God bless you my friend.

Jerry was one of the first people I met at Huron. Over the decade or so the I knew him, we had many interesting and memorable conversations, especially as we started building the letterpress studio (with which he had a bit of a history from earlier in life). I have missed Jerry’s presence over the past several months and grieve his death with you. As president of the Faculty Association, I also want to extend my condolences on behalf of our faculty and librarian colleagues at Huron. The college won’t be the same without him.

My deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time. I worked with Jerry for almost 10 years at Huron and we had many conversations over the years – he was a very funny guy with a big heart and his presence has been missed on campus over the last several months. He was always there to help out when we needed it in the library. He will be sorely missed.

Condolence from Jennifer Mustapha on January 6th, 2025 3:07 PM

I am so sorry to hear this. Over my 10 years at Huron I’ve chatted with Jerry many times about random things – maintenance related and non. A particularly memorable interaction was the enthusiastic mini-crash course he gave me one time on how the new classroom/hallway ventilation systems work after they were renovated during COVID. A familiar and friendly face around the college, he will be missed. My deepest condolences to Jerry’s family and loved ones. JM

Condolence from Cathy Kramer on January 6th, 2025 3:49 PM

My condolences to the Jongeneelen family for your loss. Jerry and I worked together at Huron and I will miss him greatly. We often talked about family, pets, and his new found love of riding this trike with his brother. He was a man who couldn’t sit still, had his own opinion on many subjects and was set in his ways. Then you got those one on one minutes with him where you got to see the real Jerry! I will miss our daily visits, his rants on subjects he felt strongly about, and the stories of his beloved pets. Rest in peace my friend, I’ll sure we’ll meet again.

Condolence from William Cliff on January 7th, 2025 9:11 AM

This is tragic. Jerry was such a good, thoughtful, funny and conscientious man. Through all my years at Huron as a student and then as it’s chaplain he was a fixture and a faithful. The Chapel was always well cared for and he made it a special place of his concern. He will be sorely missed.

May his memory be eternal and be for a blessing.

+William Cliff

Both in floods and winter storms. In classrooms and in tunnels, he had my back. With very few complaints.
He will be dearly missed.
