With great sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Marilyn Jones, of Kitchener on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the age of 82. Cherished wife of Neil Jones. She will be greatly missed by her many close nieces and nephews, and friends. Born in Sault Ste. Marie, she was predeceased by her parents William and Neresa Nelson and her siblings Phyllis Newman, Bill Nelson and Hugh Nelson.
Cremation has taken place and a family graveside service will be held at the Exeter Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in memory of Marilyn may be made to World Wildlife Fund Canada.

I am so sad that Mrs Jones never recovered from her fall and surgery. Mrs Jones, as I called her, met quite often around 5:00 am when I would deliver the newspaper to her. She would be up making coffee. She’d come to the door and my dog would greet her. She’d say, ‘nice dog. No you can’t come in.’ We did this for 9 1/2 years. I’ll miss her friendly smile and her concerns about me when the weather was bad.
I never met Mr Jones. My condolence’s to him and their family.
Although our connection with my Aunt Marilyn and Uncle Neil in recent years was usually only through exchanged Christmas cards (along with occasional encounters at my Mom’s cottage on Lake Baptiste or her home in Peterborough), we always admired Marilyn’s fortitude, dedication and positive attitude in caring for Neil at home despite his declining health. There’s no justice in the fact that once Neil needed more care than Marilyn could provide, her fall denied her the opportunity to enjoy the physical and emotional rest that she so richly deserved. Our condolences to Neil and to Marilyn’s extended family and friends.
We will miss our Aunt Marilyn. She was a kind person, always volunteering to help others. We remember her visits with Neil to Pinecroft each summer and her considerate and helpful ways.
Just by chance I found out that my good friend,Marilyn had passed away.Neil was my late husband’s best friend growing up in Exeter,so of course they kept up this friendship.I met Marilyn when we lived in Kitchener for a short period,and I am proud to say we kept in contact all the time.I was out of the country for awhile,and I guess Neil was unable to contact me.So sorry for Neil’s loss.She will be greatly missed.Condolences to her relatives.

We are so sad to know that Marilyn did not recover after her surgery and fall. Our prayers and thoughts are with Uncle Neil and her kind neighbour, Gladys, who was so good to her, as well as Hugh and Jane and all the family members who she cared so deeply about. We loved her smile and pleasant stories recalling happier and busier times….she will be missed.
