ISAAC: Marion Amelia (McIver) of London

Marion passed away peacefully at LHSC – University Hospital in London on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the age of 94. Predeceased by her husband William Bruce Isaac, in 1995. Greatly missed by son Robert & wife Pam Isaac (of London) and grandchildren Jeremy Gorsline and Katerine Taylor and by great-grand children Tyson and Freyja Taylor. She is survived by her sister Annie Norman. Predeceased by sisters Jean McCallum and Wilhelmine Fair and by nephews Wayne Norman and Ronald McCallum.

Marion’s  warmth and wit will be sadly missed by nieces Karen Norman (Vickie DeReng), Marian Egan (Dave) Laurie Mackey (Paul), Terri Cathcart (Neil), Marge Hodgins, Brenda Ackert (Bob), Debbie Canning (Marshall), Barbara McCallum; and by nephews Gordon Fair, Robert McCallum (Teresa), Doug McCallum (Nancy), John McCallum, George Norman (Fatima) and Donny Norman.  Many, many great nieces, nephews and cousins are saddened by Marion’s passing.

She began her life in Kincardine Twp, with her parents Angus and Marie Anne McIver and 3 sisters. She began teaching at age 18 in a one room schoolhouse (grades 1-8) and continued teaching primary grades or special education until she retired in 1985 to look after her husband who was in poor health until his passing. She was an incredible mentor and made a world of positive difference in many young lives. Her students will attest to her patience, kindness and understanding.

While she taught she successfully earned an honours BA from Western University. She then worked with her son to support him in his business until 2021. Fiercely independent and even though she became blind she lived by herself after her husband passed. Marion will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Tuesday evening from 7 – 9 PM. Registration is appreciated. To register, please click “Register Now” below.

Marion’s funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, October 18th at 1 PM with Rev. Wendy Noble officiating. Interment St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice in Marion’s name would be most appreciated.

Robert and family;
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Marion. Marion was my teacher for a few years at S.S. #9. I remember her with a quiet voice, a positive attitude and being very kind. I remember when she left teaching because you were about to be born. Marion was one of my role models of what a teacher should be like and I did use her influences in my own teaching career. I remember visiting her and Bruce in their Biddulph home on many Halloween nights as well. Over the years I lost contact with her but I am so pleased to see she helped you with your business for a few years. Please know that our thoughts are with you and your family. God Bless.

Robert and family,
My sincere condolences on the passing of your mother.
Marion started me off in my school career in grade one and was such a wonderful role model.
She was patient, kind and always a gracious woman.
By her example, she showed us how to get along with each other and gave us a safe, comfortable place to learn. I was happy to see that she continued in special education.

Bob and Pam, I sincerely extend my deepest condolences. Marion was a good mentor and for the years I worked with her, there was a special bond between us. I am almost in TO now and will not be back in London until Thursday. I will keep her in my prayers. Keep well.
