Elsie and Family,
So sorry to hear of the passing of Ken. He was a wonderful man who always took the time to stop to chat. He loved his golf and would always ask about our boys and their golf game. One of our fondest memories of Ken was the night of Jared’s wedding when Ken danced so much – he danced until the soles came right off of his shoes! Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time!

Condolence from Jo-Anne Hodgins on November 10th, 2014 7:23 AM

We are so saddened to hear of Ken’s passing. Ken was such a gentleman through the years of knowing him.
Ken and I most often met at the Exeter library and compared books we had read. He seemed to have a knack with each person he met to find a ‘common place’ and make it an important part of the conversation at each chance meeting. For years I hadn’t seen Ken but it was such a delight to reconnect with him at Parkwood. Our first chat was about books! Situations may have changed but Ken’s absolutely genuine concern for others didn’t! We will miss Ken as we visit Dad at Parkwood. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his family. I know Dad would have us extend the same condolences .

Dear Elsie and Family,
Such a long life God awarded Ken ! He was a fine gentleman, and a good neighbour.
Jerry and Ken had such a nice visit in Parkwood just such a short time ago,and he explained how well he was feeling,so we were quite surprised to hear of his passing. May his memory keep a smile on your face and a flicker in your heart in the days to come.
You have our sincere sympathy,

Condolence from Brad & Cathy Gregus on November 10th, 2014 2:29 PM

Great neighbor, great friend, great citizen!
We’ll miss the friendly chats on each others front lawns. Ken was always gregarious, insightful, and with wisdom to spare. He was a good mentor to me on things related to business. 25 yrs ago Ken moved here and adopted Exeter as his own. He got involved in several efforts around town, and we can say he made our little town better!……Tomorrow when you glance at the poppy on your jacket, think of the young brash sailor Ken, 70 yrs ago on a naval ship at sea, in wartime, defending this great country, and not knowing if that day would be his last.

Condolence from Michael, Faith, Grace & Nathan on November 11th, 2014 3:37 PM

Paul, Krista and Jennifer,

At times like these we can only look to memories of your grandfather, and from everything that I’ve read he was a great man.

Regardless of beliefs; I have always believed that the greatest gift left behind from someone who passes is the everlasting memories that encourage us to look at ourselves each day. Make the most of every day and be that someone who leaves great memories for others to remember us by.

Please accept our deepest sympathies in the loss of your grandfather and know that we are thinking of you all during this difficult time.

Heartfelt regards,
Michael, Faith, Grace and Nathan

It was with great sadness that I learned of Uncle Ken’s passing. My most sincere condolences to all. I have very fond memories of times spent visiting with my mom (the last time we made it back to ON was in 1996). My Mom shared many stories of Grandma Petrie and her siblings and had a soft spot for her baby brother. Cherish your memories and keep them close to your heart.

Ken, Mary, Elsie, and family … I think Ken Sr’s twinkle in his eye and love of life will remain always within the hearts of those he loved dearly. Now at peace and joined with those who were chosen before him, he leaves the earthly bits for all of you to enjoy as much as possible. I wasn’t able to join you at the visitation or service due to taking care of my Mom and Dad, but my thoughts and prayers were with you. May strength and warm memories guide you through the days ahead. With gentle hug, Candice Ross

God Bless you all and the very best to each and everyone of you. You are blessed with great memories of a tremendous man.
