July 2, 1975 – December 22, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Amanda Hendriksen -a devoted wife, loving mother, and compassionate nurse, on December 22. Amanda was born on July 2, 1975, in London, Ontario and dedicated her life to caring for others with kindness, love, and unwavering strength.
Anyone who had the honour of meeting Amanda would have enjoyed her infectious smile which could light up the darkest room. Her kind spirit would warm your soul as soon as you met. Amanda will be remembered as an extremely kind person who would do anything for anyone and will be greatly missed.
At home, Amanda was a pillar of love and support to her family. She shared a beautiful partnership with her husband Dan, with whom she built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was a proud and devoted mother to her two children, Ben and Megan, who were the light of her life and her greatest joy, and beloved walking partner to their family dog Mylo.
As a nurse, Amanda touched countless lives through her skill, empathy, and dedication. Her patients often described her as a source of comfort and healing, while her colleagues admired her professionalism and compassion. She embodied the heart of her profession, making a difference every day.
Amanda will be remembered for her gentle heart, selflessness, and the boundless love she shared with everyone around her. Her legacy of compassion and kindness will forever live on in the lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband Dan; her children Ben, Megan; her mother Wendy Norton (predeceased by her father Wayne); her mother-in-law Mary (predeceased by her father-in-law Ben); her sister Jill Gillard (Joel); her brothers-in-laws, Andre Hendriksen (Morgan), Pete Hendriksen (Donna) and Dave Hendriksen (Corry); nieces and nephews and a large circle of extended family, friends (many lifelong), and colleagues who will miss her dearly.
As per Amanda’s wishes, there will not be a funeral reception. A date for a celebration of Amanda’s life has yet to be determined by the family.
In lieu of sending the family flowers, please consider honouring Amanda by sending flowers to a Long Term Care Home, donating a toy to a local children’s hospital, or ANY kind act of your choosing to brighten someone’s day. The world has lost a truly wonderful person and is a lesser place without her in it. In an effort to offset this loss, we ask that you use Amanda’s life as an inspiration in your own life… please be an Amanda!
Though she is no longer with us, Amanda’s warmth and love will remain in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, Amanda. You are a beautiful soul inside and out…You are a blessing to us all and we love you forever and always.

So incredibly sorry for your loss. I worked with Amanda in the Women’s program for almost 10 yrs as a leader. Amanda was an exceptional nurse making a difference every day in the lives of those she cared for. Amanda also positively impacted those she worked with – she cared for the team as equally as she cared for her patients. She loved her family and shared stories often lighting up with love as she spoke. It was a pleasure crossing paths in life with Amanda – a beautiful human, a caring and exceptional nurse, and an adored colleague. Amanda – you will be incredibly missed. Your impacts will continue as you made a great impression on many for how life can be lived with light and love and care.

Thinking of you during this time of sorrow for you and your family. May the thoughts and prayers you received be of comfort to you and the memories you made bring a smile to your face. And, thank goodness for the assistance of AI, that Dan could write such a moving message, better than he could have in high school about his best friend and love of his life. We will be an Amanda.

James and I are so very sorry that you’ve lost this beautiful human who you were lucky to call your wife and mom. It’s absolutely heartbreaking and so unfair she is no longer here. Amanda was one of a kind and I was fortunate to have met her within the last 10 years . She had the sweetest voice, laugh and smile. Every time we chatted it was very clear how much her family meant to her. I will miss seeing her texts and always running into her at Sobeys- where we would take up the isle talking away as if we were just hanging out. No words will take your pain away but keeping all the special memories close to your heart may give some comfort and know that shes watching from above. Our deepest condolences, we are thinking of your entire family.
Dan, we want to extend our heartfelt condolences to you and your family for your loss. Our thoughts & prayers are with you.
Dan, Ben, Megan and the Norton and Hendriksen families.

Dan and family,
We were so sorry to hear of the loss of your best friend Amanda. She sounds like a lovely lady with a very warm heart. May your memories shared together help comfort you during the days ahead.
Dan, Ben and Megan,
Our heartfelt condolences for your loss. There are no words to express how devastated we are for you. Amanda was truly an exceptional soul, vibrant, caring and relentlessly kind. We are grateful to have had the opportunity and privilege to meet her at family gatherings, gone far too soon but her warm smile will endure in our hearts. Sending prayers, with love.
I worked with Amanda for years, she was always so sweet but she had a quick wit, she always asked me jokingly if I loved being a nurse whenever we had a bad shift. She talked so proudly of her children and her husband. She really was the epitome of kindness, she touched many lives and will greatly missed. Rest in peace.
So sad to hear of Amanda’s passing. I knew her in her younger days growing up in Byron and I have been so blessed to work with her for the last 12 years in the Women’s clinics.
She was beautiful soul inside and out, thoughtful and caring. Always great to work with, we knew when Amanda had been at work as the candy drawer was quietly filled by her. I will miss her random txts, sometimes just to say hi. She was so proud of her family often telling us stories of how they were doing. My condolences to Dan, Ben and Megan. To Mom Wendy and sister Jill.
Going to miss her so much.
I met Amanda when we were doing our consolidation on Adult Oncology and we worked together as new grads. I remember this beautiful nurse with her makeup and lipstick and never a hair out of place who was so wonderful with patients and could make the funniest face or comment in the most stressful situation. My condolences to Dan and Megan and Ben and her family including Mary (who was also a wonderful nurse). It is hard to imagine the nursing community with Amanda in it.
Dear Dan, Ben, Megan: It is with great sadness that I write to express that you and your entire family are in out thoughts at this dificulte time.
Amanda, your wife and mother was a beautiful person and a kind friend. I remember her beautiful smile. I remember seeing her so strong and enthusiastic while cutting the grass around your house ejem si came by to photograph the Ospreys nesting by the pond.
Will always remember Amanda as a gentle soul and great neighbour.
I worked with Amanda for many years, and I’m extremely saddened at the news of her passing. I watched how difficult were the demands of giving care to people who were so sick and suffering, and I could see how nurses like Amanda gave so much of themselves to make the lives of their patients that little bit better every day. She was a wonderfully warm, generous , eternally smiling person, and I send my deepest sypmpathy to her family.
So sad to hear about Amanda. Although we never met, We are RELATED…my brother was Cyril Vincent France, & our parents were Henry & Ivy. Much LOVE to all. From; Yvonne
My sincere condolences to you Dan, your children and your families. This is heartbreaking news. Thinking of you all in your time of grief. Thoughts and prayers are with you. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Oh how heart broken I was to hear this. Just way too soon and so unfair to her beautiful family. Although I knew Amanda for several years through the kids, it wasn’t until my breast cancer diagnosis that we connected with a wonderful friendship. She was quick to contact me and support me. She would remember my chemo days and years later she would still remember my upcoming milestones. She was a sweet, soft speaking wonderful woman. I will miss our conversations and her always willing to listen way about her! Be free my friend, be free with no more worries. I will miss you so much.
