HASKETT: Doug of Ailsa Craig

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doug Haskett at his home in Ailsa Craig on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the age of 57. Loving husband of Jenny Haskett. Proud dad of Hayley Haskett and Brandon Taylor, and Emily Haskett and Rob McIntosh and proud stepfather of Ashlyn Hopper (Dylan), and Kai Hopper. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Carol and Roger Kellam. Fondly remembered by his niece, nephews, and many friends. Predeceased by his parents Glenn and Isobel Haskett.

Doug was a man of many passions, but nothing meant more to him than his family. He loved the freedom of the open road on his motorcycle, the peaceful moments spent by the pond with his beloved pets, and the satisfaction of a freshly cut lawn. Doug found joy in music, many sports – both playing and watching, and he was always up for a good time with friends — whether roller skating, on his bike or enjoying Friday pub nights.

A come and go celebration of Doug’s life will be held at the Lucan Community Centre (Multipurpose Hall), 263 Main Street, LUCAN on Friday evening from 5 – 8 PM. A private family graveside will be held at St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye.

Donations to ALS Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

The family wishes to thank the ALS team at LHSC – University Hospital for their kind and compassionate care shown to Doug and his family.

Condolence from Dennis Foran on April 23rd, 2025 10:48 AM

To the Haskett family. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Doug. I recall from our youth that Doug was the smoothest roller skater to ever put on wheels. In sport, he was a competitor but also the wittiest teammate one could ever have. Doug had the ability to light up any room he entered and was sure to provide an observation or joke that brought everyone to laughter. Doug was taken too soon and will certainly be missed.
