In Titus 2:3-4 Paul writes that older women should be reverent and able to teach what is good through their actions and words. They should encourage and teach younger women to love their husbands and children. This was Grace. She was truly a gracious lady and I shall miss her so.

Aunt Grace will be greatly missed. She was a warm and generous person with a gentle sense of humour. When I grew up Grace advised on all medical issues. She was the golf pro for my father. She leaves memories of caring and compassion. There is comfort in knowing of her strength and good-will.

Dear Tom, Ken, Marlene & families, I was very sorry to hear that your Mom has passed away. I have many great memories of her, and of all the times I spent with the three of you when babysitting, especially during the summers. Grace was a warm, friendly and helpful lady, and always fun to be with. My Mother, Margaret Donaghey, also enjoyed the years spent living across the road and being friends and neighbours with your family. Since I live in Sault Ste. Marie, I will be unable to attend the service, but please accept my condolences and best wishes.

Condolence from Lisa Shipley on January 25th, 2011 2:11 PM

My husband, Chris, and I were very sorry to hear of Grace’s death. We’ve really only become good friends with Grace over the past 10 years or so and the news came quite suddenly to us since we have not been able to get together with Grace for some time now.

We will always cherish the great memories of spending time in Grace’s home. She called us the “kids” and would always welcome us for a lovely lunch. She was delighted to include our kids during our visits with her as our young family began to expand . She was always trying to think of ways to bless our family and was always so thoughtful to incorporate some “kid-friendly” foods into our lunches, knowing how kids can be a little picky at times.

We enjoyed hearing her stories from years past and grieved with her as she shared about losing young friends in the war, as well as her sweet husband years later. She would say to us, “Kids, you don’t want to live through a war, it’s just terrible.”

She was always so energetic and her beautiful face always wore a smile. It’s certain she’ll continue to smile brightly in Heaven now that she’s with Jesus and I’m positive she’s enjoying catching up with Russell and others who’ve gone before her as well!

I’m sad that we will not be able to introduce her to the newest addition to our family. Our 5th child, Meg (Christy Margaret Marie) was just born on Jan. 1st and as we are still adjusting to our newborn, we are unable to attend today or tomorrow. But we are thinking of and praying for your family at this time.

With our deepest sympathy and prayers of comfort for the family,
Chris & Lisa Shipley

I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Aunt Grace. She was one of my favourite people in the family. She was always happy and had a kind word to say not to mention some good stories to tell whenever I saw her. I will miss her.

Condolence from Randy & Sylvia Mann on February 1st, 2011 3:25 PM

Tom, Ken & Marlene & family, Sylvia and I were saddened to hear of the death of your mother and pray God will give you His peace and comfort in your sorrow. I have many wonderful memories of Grace and Russ from those early years of growing up next door to you and of the joy and fellowship we enjoyed as we worshiped God together for many years. I trust you will find great joy and comfort in knowing she has gone to be with Christ and now knows the glories of being in the presence of her Savior, Jesus.
