Condolence From: Merv & Dawne Erb
Dear Martha and Eunice:
We are away this week, up in northern Ontario, and will not be able to see you personally.
Please accept our sympathy on your father’s passing away. To reach such a good age and slip away peacefully is truly a blessing.
Your dad had such a good memory, like his father, and I had many good visits with him at the rest home. I have a picture of Clarence, my father, Edith (Gingerich)Soper, Ephriam, and others from home who I can’t remember – wish I had the picture infront of me. It was of their winter Bible School class in Kitchener in 1942 I believe. They travelled down on Sunday afternoons and came back on Fridays. Can you imagine the winter road conditions in the 1940’s?? Your dad once told me that they got storm stranded in Brucefield one time.
I will always remember going to your dad’s grocery store on Saturdays. Mom would call in the grocery order – imagine doing that today – Ethel(?) would take the order, and when we got there our bags where lined up with all the others. It was always $2 or $3. What a difference from today!! Merv
I will always remember Clarence’s gentle manner when I would visit with him in the halls at work. He always had great stories to share: he always recalled that our daughter was married to Norma Geiger’s son when she & her children would come in to see me. His favourite place to sit after lunch or breakfast would be in front of the windows beside the new courtyard outside my office – he really enjoyed soaking up the sun’s rays. My sympathy to you & your faimilies. Dawne
