Posted By Haskett Funeral Homes On February 7, 2025 @ 3:01 PM In Exeter,Obituary | 260 Comments

FARQUHAR: Lynne of Huron Park

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Lynne on February 5, 2025. She will be forever missed by her best friend Marj Green. Dearly loved sister and sister-in-law of Bill and Linda Farquhar of Exeter and Dale Turvey of Burlington. Cherished aunt of Tim Turvey, Erin Turvey (Marco Lozej), Becci (Dan) Horton, Steve (Tracy) Farquhar, and Dave Farquhar. Loving and fun great aunt of Ben, Sam, and Alex Lozej; Chad, Tanner, Cierra, and Abby Horton; Maddie, and Lauryn Farquhar; and Devon, Brady, and Erin Farquhar. Predeceased by her sister Gail (2023) and her parents Aubrey (1989) and Grace (1994). Lynne is also loved by Marj’s family and by her adopted family, the Kellers, and many cousins.

Lynne enjoyed working with young people in her job as a recreation director and later as an Educational Assistant at South Huron District High School. Lynne’s family were sports enthusiasts. Aub and Grace operated Exeter Bowling Lanes for 23 years. She made many great and lasting friendships and memories during her years playing softball with the Milverton Suns. Many stories were shared about spring training and competing at Provincial and National Championships. Lynne also helped bring women’s hockey to the area, founding the Huron Park Pacers and coaching minor and high school hockey. Lynne’s passion was golf and she was proud of her two holes-in-one. She enjoyed many years of golf with the scramble team and the Girls of Summer. Lynne loved music and singing along to the oldies, but her favourite times were spent on a sunny patio with a cold Michelob Ultra, sharing stories and her great sense of humour with some of her many friends.

Thank you to Dr. Ryan, the wonderful staff at South Huron Hospital, Dr. Mengel, Dr. Saini at LHSC – Victoria Hospital. Thanks also to friends and relatives for all the generosity, support, and kindness shown in the last 6 months.

A celebration of life will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, EXETER on Saturday, February 22nd from 1 – 4 PM with words of remembrance at 3 PM. Please dress casually, golf attire, or sports jerseys are welcome. Cremation has taken place. Interment Exeter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would be grateful for donations made to the South Huron Hospital Foundation in Lynne’s honour.

It’s hard to believe that I knew Lynne for 55 years. She was someone that if you didn’t see her for a while, it took only a second to pickup exactly where you left off. That makes a true friend. Our most sympathy to Marj, words just don’t do justice at this time, know she was a special person and you meant the world to her. Also our sympathy to the Farquhar family, Marj’s family and all who will miss her….. it’s a sad day.

She shared her knowledge & you could count on her to make you laugh. Many fond memories of her contributions to regional recreation initiatives. She left her mark in her community & will be remembered for her positive personality & leadership.

Condolence from Dave MacLeod on February 7th, 2025 9:23 PM

Dear Marj, and Lynne’s family and friends

I am truly sorry to hear of Lynne’s passing, she was truly a wonderful lady. I had the privilege of working with Lynne for a number of years as we shepherded a number of students through our Grade 9 Canadian Geography and Grade 10 Canadian History courses – Lynne was very patient and always positive, and we truly liked working together. Often we would be having conversations related to what the students were doing, but also recalling events from our own lives – where were you when Paul Henderson scored ‘the goal’ in the ’72 Canada-Russia Hockey series? Or talking about Bobby Gimby’s “CA-NA-DA” song from Centennial year, followed by an impromptu singing of the song while dancing around like Bobby did – all to the amazement of the students, who I’m certain thought that we had both cracked up!

When we teach there are some students who will be successful at anything regardless of who is teaching them. There are lots of students who do well with some good solid instruction. And then there are those students who will only succeed when they are given the right type of instruction, encouragement, and support – and Lynne was definitely an important factor in the success of many of the young people we worked with.

When Lynne and Marj retired I gave Lynne a certificate, indicating that she had finally successfully completed Grade 10 History, and to express my thanks for being such a wonderful colleague.

In our lives we are blessed if we can say we met someone of incredible courage, integrity, and perseverance – who met the challenges of life head on, and always kept a positive attitude, with a good sense of humour. Lynne was truly that kind of person, and while I sorrow for her loss, I am truly grateful for her life, and all the good things she accomplished. That is truly a wonderful legacy.

Condolence from Russ Watson on February 7th, 2025 9:29 PM

Love to all of Lynne’s family and especially Marj.
Lynne was an absolutely amazing person and such a joy to be around! There were so many times when she picked everyone up with her positivity and raucous laughter which could be heard all over Exeter Golf Course during our year end staff tournaments.
This one time completely green rookie teacher was taught everything I needed to know about classroom management by Lynne and Marj in our first week of working together. I will forever be grateful to you both.
Remembering Lynne with tears in my eyes but a smile in my heart.

Peace and love to you all.

Lynne will be missed, yet long remembered by entire communities, and especially by so many families she was part of.

It was our privilege of getting to know her and Marj better during the past few summers thanks to the mutual admiration that existed between both of them and Lynne’s great nephews Ben, Sam and Alex. Theirs was a wonderful and unique relationship that will leave a void for these boys that will seem impossible to fill but we know that they have memories of this special connection that they can hold onto throughout their lives and will remind them how lucky they were to have had those times.

Lynne leaves an incredible legacy in all of you.

Lynne was truly a ‘one of a kind’ and I will miss her radiant smile, always friendly greeting, “Hi Beej’ and her amazing wit and ‘one liners’ ! Lynne was so good in her role as an Educational Assistant because she was a natural at guiding young people, and also really good at guiding adult friends in golf – even those not gifted like herself . Lynne always had stories to share, and with her humor there was lots of laughs at our lunches or card games . Lynne will be so greatly missed by so many, but will always be remembered for the special person and dear friend that she was. I know you will have many memories to cherish, and may this bring comfort in your loss.

What started as a joke ten years ago turned out to be the most important question I’ve ever asked: “Will you retire and come and be our children’s nannies?” Who knew that Marj and Lynne would ever have said, “yes!”

Although we were friends from SHDHS long before that, for the past nine years we’ve been incredibly fortunate to see Lynne every single school day. It wasn’t long before other families on the street thought Lynne was our kids’ amazing, hilarious grandma—or they were trying to steal both Marj and Lynne to have as their very own babysitters.

Some of my favourite videos are of Lynne seeing Anna take her first steps, playing hide-and-seek, and of all the oldies she taught my kids over the years. We’ll never be able to listen to The Beatles’ “She Loves You” or play a game of cards without thinking of Lynne. Together, Marj and Lynne picked up our sick kids from school, fixed boo-boos, attended school plays when we couldn’t, showed up to countless sporting events, and gave the best hugs.

Brady and Anna say their favourite thing about “Lynnie” is that she made them laugh. My favourite thing about Lynne is how much our kids loved seeing her every single day—and how much she loved them in return.

We are so honoured to be considered Lynne’s adopted family. Our heartfelt condolences go out to our dearest Marj and the entire Farquhar family. Thank you all for sharing your Lynne with us; she has forever left an imprint on our lives and in our hearts. We are heartbroken, but we know that Lynne is now looking down on us, free from pain.

With love from your bonus family,
The Kellers
(Nick, Amanda, Brady and Anna)

Condolence from Stacey Park on February 8th, 2025 2:34 PM

Dear Marj and Farquhar Family,

I am deeply saddened to hear of Lynne’s passing. She was truly one of the best, and I will always cherish the wonderful memories we created together as colleagues and friends.

Lynne and I began our journey together at SHDHS in 1998, and over the years, we worked together in many geography classes. I honestly couldn’t have navigated those years without her support. She had a unique ability to keep me composed during challenging times, and for that, I will forever be grateful.
What I will remember most are our heartfelt discussions about our students—the joy they brought us, and yes, the moments that made us giggle. Those memories are treasures I hold dear. I still find it touching to recall the year she retired when one of our classes created a Wordle in the shape of an apple, showcasing just how wonderful she was. I had it framed as a tribute to her commitment and dedication to her students; oh, how they adored her!

Beyond school, Lynne and I enjoyed many social gatherings. I fondly remember those Friday nights when we closed Murphy’s, our “Girls of Summer” golf and lunch events, and singing at the top of our lungs at “Babes” parties.

Lynne was not just a friend to me, but my family too. She was “Aunty Lynne” to Keeley and Kellen when they were little, and “God Todd” fondly recalls the many beverages and hilarious stories shared between them at Murphy’s, on the golf course, or on her deck in the Park.

Lynne will be deeply missed, but she will always remain in our hearts.

With heartfelt condolences,
Stacey, Todd, Keeley, and Kellen Park

Sincerest condolences to Marj, Bill & Linda & all the Farquhar families,
One of the last things Lynnie said to me was “We had a lot of fun, didn’t we”. It wasn’t a question, it was a statement and anyone who had the good fortune of having her touch their lives knows this statement to be so, so true. I appreciated Lynne in so many ways. She was one of a kind, and anyone who has ever been in her company knows a story or two that is guaranteed to make you smile and laugh. She was an intricate part of a lot of competitive teams and was a leader through example and the camaraderie she could create with whatever sport she played. There are so many things I will miss about her, so like all of you I will keep those memories in my heart, on the golf course, playing 5 Crown, on your back deck………
Love you, Rest In Peace my Friend

Condolence from Donna Garvey on February 9th, 2025 12:00 PM

Lynne will be missed by so many people. Regardless of where your path crossed hers, you knew that she was someone special and someone you wanted to be around. She saw value in everyone and gave up on no one. She lifted people’s spirits, helped those in need, made us laugh, and always saw the positive in people and situations. She had an uncanny memory for lyrics, old TV shows, movie trivia, pop culture and songs from musicals, especially The Sound of Music. She was keen to celebrate all things great and small, and lived her life with enthusiasm and integrity. She was gifted. She was wise. She was kind and she was good.

Lynne’s Panther roots ran deep and when she joined the SHDHS staff it was a perfect fit. Using empathy, understanding, and of course humour, she connected with students in classrooms, in halls and through her coaching. Her down to earth approach was her hallmark as was her ability to find the humour in all situations. In short, she made things better.

Lynne had a big heart. She loved her life with Marj and her extended Farqufar family. My condolences go out to all of you.

Dear Marj, Bill & Linda, and all those near and dear to Lynne.
What a special lady and she will be missed immensely. Lynne had great empathy for those who maybe needed a little boost. She was an inspiration and a mentor to me in the classroom, as a coach, and on the links. I’m so glad that she and Marj got to travel to some amazing places, watch some great LPGA golfers and thoroughly enjoy the sport they loved. Next time I’m on Ironwood #8, I’ll think of you Lynne and try to cut the corner…probably without success but dammit I’ll try! She loved life as long as there was a chance to golf, a cold one, Abba tunes, and her beloved Marj. Rest easy my friend. Love you, and I promise, I’ll try to slow my swing down.

My sincere condolences to Marj, Bill & Linda and the entire Farquhar Family

What a lasting and happy memory we the Girls of Summer had at the Forest Golf and Country Club, sleep over, in July, celebrating Lynne’s early 70th Birthday. Her dinner of Beef Tenderloin and the bone marrow had us all literally in tears and after playing 5 Crown for hours.

Lynne was never lost for words and you could pick that voice out of a crowded room.

She was a fun and loyal friend to the end and Deb and I had such a wonderful visit with her and Marj two weeks ago.

I’m sure she has checked out the Heavenly Golf Courses and had no problem finding a foursome.

I know she was truly grateful for all the support from Marj, Linda & Bill and the entire Family these past few months and to remain in the home she loved.

Rest in peace my dear and loving friend…. Until we meet again.

Condolence from Laurie Dietz on February 9th, 2025 5:15 PM

Dear Marj, Bill, Linda, and family,

She was an incredible boss, mentor and friend to all who were lucky enough to know her.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. I hope you find comfort in the beautiful legacy and cherished memories of this remarkable woman.

Lynne has touched so many lives and always with a smile.
Paula

Marj, Bill and Linda and family. I was so sad to hear of Lynne’s passing. Lynne always had a laugh and a smile to share with me. What is even more memorable is Lynne and Marj’s contribution to helping others with their educational programs, social interactions and general day to day routines. Our thoughts are with you during this time of loss.

Condolence from Dianne Finkbeiner on February 9th, 2025 11:48 PM

Lynne was happy, life full of fun and a great community sports person. She never missed talking to everyone even if it was short and sweet.
To Billy and Linda and their families what a huge void in the family.
My heart goes out to you Marj, keep up the good times the two of u always had.
God Bless her and the suffering has silenced.

Condolence from Bernie Range on February 10th, 2025 9:24 AM

My condolences to Lynne’s family. Gone way too soon, Lynne! She was always a shining light in my involvement with the Lake Huron Zone Recreation Association, an example of leadership and even-keel that I followed and admired. Her sense of humour and telling of jokes was excellent, and her sense of professionalism in her work top-notch. You will be missed by many.

Condolence from Carolanne Doig on February 10th, 2025 9:49 AM

Marj and all of Lynne’s family and many, many friends my sympathy to all at this very sad news. Knowing Lynne since high school days on gymnasium floors in Huron Perth competitions and later crossing paths on fairways all over our area was a joy that will be sadly missed. Lynne’s smile, her voice, her laugh were always indications of good times still to be had. Even the Solheim Cup will be quieter without Lynne in the gallery! Right now I feel a light in the golf world has gone out but that’s not what Lynne would want, so I will keep smiling every time I think of her …birdies or bogeys!

Condolence from Lori Nesbit on February 10th, 2025 9:51 AM

She was an amazing, positive person to be around. Loved her energy and her laugh. Thinking of you at this difficult time, sending hugs Marj.

Condolence from Terry O’Rourke on February 10th, 2025 9:58 AM

Marj and the Farquhar family: Lynne was the best! Always had a smile and always asking how everyone was. She was wonderful to work with at South Huron. Always caring and compassionate yet really tough when she had to be. Always very perceptive of the kids that she worked with and always willing to give that extra little bit that might be needed to help them achieve some success. Her contributions to the overall South Huron community did not go unnoticed and will not be forgotten. Thanks Lynne for being a friend! Terry and Jean

So sad to read this news today of Lynne’s passing. I knew Lynne through her leadership and involvement with the Lake Huron Zone Recreationists Association (LHZRA). Her sense of humour, her wit and her sense of adventure were virtues of her character that will leave a lasting legacy. Peace be with you at this time.

Marj and the Farquhar family,
Lynne was a person I enjoyed working with for her humour and dedication to her craft. I often reflect on how many students with learning challenges were able to achieve success with Lynne and Marj’s assistance. The one trait I loved in Lynne was her competitive nature always pushing herself and others to meet their capabilities. A good friend gone too early. Please accept Martha’s and my condolences since we will be unable to attend her celebration of life.

Condolence from Sharlene Kapp on February 10th, 2025 3:09 PM

Dearest Marj and everyone who loved Lynne.
I have so many great memories of her. When I worked at New Orleans she was a great tipper and told me not to spend it all at once! I ran into her at Walmart a year or so ago and she lit up when she saw me. Shar! She exclaimed excitedly and held out her arms for a hug. We chatted and caught up then parted with yet 1 more hug. Her hugs were always so tight and genuine. If I knew it was the last time I was going to see her, I would have hugged her longer. Rest in Paradise Lynne xo

Heart-felt condolences to Marj, Bill and Linda and all the Farquhar family and friends:

How can someone make you laugh so hard that you cry? I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone as positive and fun-loving as Lynne (or “Farq” as we all called her.) For a few years I played fastpitch and hockey with Lynne and she was always a team leader in attitude, determination and sportsmanship. Once we played a really tough American hockey team and Lynne said before the game “If you can’t beat ’em, confuse ’em! This was her super-power; knowing what to say and when to say it and she made us all better athletes, teammates and friends with her wit and sense of humour.

Lynne was a very caring person and always kept in touch just wondering how you’re doing. In later years our trips together with Marj and Lynne to LPGA golf events were a hilight as well as getting to their back deck to share a beverage, hear Lynne’s analysis of the golf and to share stories. No one could tell a story like Lynne!

So now, how can missing someone make you cry so much you wonder where the next laugh will come from? For me, I just have to look at a favourite photo of Lynne and instantly a smile comes to my face.
Our sympathies go out to you Marj, and all her family and friends.

I will miss you my friend. Love you and see you down the road Lynne.

Condolence from M.J. Chanyi on February 10th, 2025 4:35 PM

Marj & the Farquar family, what wonderful memories you all have of life with Lynne! She lit up whatever space she occupied, with smiles, laughter, & wit. Every picture I have of her, we are all laughing. She had more come backs & Quips than my brother. We also shared in depth conversations, where we solved some of the world’s problems. She had interest in everything. Most of all, I will remember her talent on the golf course. She was greeted with respect & hugs wherever she went. I know Marj will feel that a light has dimmed, Lynne would say, life goes on. Enjoy your game on an out of world course. We will miss you. Hugs MJ

We will always remember “Stand By Me” as the Marj and Lynne song as you both belted it out, singing along to the radio on the bus ride to the airport in Mexico. Your upbeat and energetic spirit was so great, making you a wonderful person to be around.

Dear Marj & Lynne’s family;
Met Lynne in high school in the 70’s. Many wonderful memories: but 1 that stands out was during storm of 70 ‘ something, a few of us were stranded in Exeter & had the privilege of being ‘storm stayed’ with Lynne & her parents at the bowling alley. What fun we had & such gracious people were Aub & Grace.
Our paths crossed with Lynne & Marj over the years: often at sporting events.
Her smile lit up her face & one always felt drawn in by her spirit.
You will be missed, Lynne. Wishing all of you peace & comfort.

I worked with Lynne for many years at SHDHS and it made my heart happy when I heard she would be “in my class”. Her quiet patience and sense of humour helped many students and staff through difficult times.
She was also hilarious out of the classroom and always was the first to arrive at gatherings and the last to leave – she said this was so no one could talk about you!
Lynne will be missed by many.

My heart goes out to Marj and Lynne’s family. I have so many fond memories of Lynne. From the Vegas trip to playing hockey and golf with Lynne. In hockey, she was such an amazing team mate and I was so glad she was on our side. She was feisty and no one could get around her on defence and she stuck up for her teammates. She could hit a golf ball further than any female that I know and was so modest about it. Lynne, we will keep care of Marj for you. I will definitely miss you on the golf course and know that you have a special spot in my heart. Love T

Condolence from Tracy McLennan on February 12th, 2025 8:41 PM

Dear Marj and the Farquhar family,

It’s taken me a week to think of the words I wanted to write to express the sadness I have felt upon hearing of the passing of Lynne. There are no words, but I am sending my deepest condolences to you all. She was an incredible human.

On my first day at South Huron DHS, we met in the office and both thought we should know each other. We did. I remembered her from my childhood when my mom would get called up by Janet Buchanan to play broomball with Parr Line. She remembered me, too, from that time. Lynne was a force on the ice with a broomstick in her hand! However, it was her warmth but competitive spirit that endeared her to everyone she met, and that was what I remembered about her. She left a positive impression on me as a child; so, I was not surprised to learn she was an Educational Assistant at South Huron where could impact more children with her incredible generosity and caring nature.

What a joy she was to work with! I loved having her in my classroom where I got to see her in action. Lynne loved our students, and she never gave up on any child. Her kindness and sense of humour got through to even the toughest of our kids. She left her mark on so many students, and she left an imprint on my heart. Whether it was in the classroom, at the many gatherings of staff, or on a golf course with the ladies, Lynne’s laughter and humour was heard and felt.

We are all so very blessed to have known Lynne. Our hearts are broken, but what an impact she had on so many lives. We will miss you always, Lynne. Thank you for everything.

Tracy (Bosman) McLennan

Condolence from Dianne McGregor on February 16th, 2025 6:05 PM

I remember the day I met Lynne. I had just moved to Exeter and Al Quinn took me around the town; he asked if I played sports. Al brought me straight to Lynne, the Recreation Director at Exeter Arena. Lynne got me registered with the Huron Park Pacers, and then asked me if I played baseball, so we played for the Exeter Greys. Then Lynne asked if I played golf, so Lynne and Marj took me out to Ironwood and taught me how to golf. Lynne was very competitive and a great sport. She even let me play short stop once in a while.
Lynne and Marj decided that our women’s hockey team needed some young stuff to take over for the old girls. The girls hockey took off after this first team. I was honored to join this team as the trainer. The support was amazing from the community; the arena was full.
Lynne was an athlete, a mentor, a good friend, and one of those very rare human beings! We had some beers and a lot of laughs. I will miss you, my friend.
I hope to see you Saturday, Marj.

I am still processing that Lynne is no longer with us. She was such a big personality and I am happy to say she was my friend. Condolence from Shawn Denstedt on February 18th, 2025 5:09 PM

Our deepest sympathies to Marj and To Lynne’s family. One of a kind would be an understatement in describing Farq. She was the life of the party – and often the instigator of the party. She was also the loyal bedrock upon which many friendships endured despite time and distance. While we had not seen Lynne much in the last number of years we had the good fortune to spend a couple of hours with her and a few other old friends last summer. It was two hours of laughter, a few tears, some sober reflection led, as always, by Lynne’s indomitable spirit. But – most important – it was a time of shared love and friendship – I will be forever grateful for those two hours. A poet wrote “to live in hearts we leave behind is not to die” and so Lynne will live on. Rest in peace.

There will never be enough words to adequately describe the love and respect that Farq deserves. Yes she was the perpetrator of all the shenanigans on the field and off but her caring soul was always close to the surface. She was a fixture, larger than life character whose passing I am having trouble coming to terms with…her presence will always be missed, yet I know she will be with each and everyone of us…
Oh and by the way Farq, the Statue of Liberty has forgiven you for calling her old and green…
Rest easy, “Beatrice Gordon “

Each year we looked forward to the Suns year end gatherings and the receiving of Lynne’s prank gifts that matched team members specialties for that season.
eg. a canning jar holder as a radar detector .
Lynne had the greatest imagination.

My sincere condolences to Marj and the Farquhar family.
I had the great pleasure of knowing Lynne for 40+ years and I have so many wonderful memories to treasure. Whether it was bowling, broomball, hockey, or the Sun’s ball team, Lynne was always the ‘life of the party’. With her larger-than-life personality and her great sense of humor, she truly was one of a kind. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Rest in peace, my friend. Love “Spotty” xo

Condolence from Betty Capes on February 19th, 2025 4:40 PM

My thoughts and prayers go out to Marj, Bill, the Farquhar family and many more families whose lives Lynne touched. I had the pleasure of being part of Lynne’s life through softball – which led to many interesting “adventures” that were not on the ball field. But the thing that I will cherish the most is her friendship through all these years. Always in my heart Farq.

So sorry to hear the passing of Lynne. Lynne was a lady that would brighten up a room with the biggest smile. She would always take the time to ask how our family was doing, as we would cross paths in the arenas.

Also, was the biggest fan during the good old years of Field Hockey! Didn’t matter what the weather was like.

She will be truly missed by all. Hugs to the entire family.. ❤️

Condolence from Terri Brintnell on February 21st, 2025 2:03 PM

Dear Marj, Bill, Linda, Dale and Lynne’s nieces and nephews:

My deepest sympathy to all of you. Lynne was one of a kind in the best way imaginable and a good friend of mine who I will truly miss.

When you were in Lynne’s company good times were a given whether travelling in Vegas or Florida, gambling in a casino, attending a concert, watching a show, dining out, sitting on a patio, cheering at a baseball, ice hockey or field hockey game, relaxing at a beach, playing cards or golfing.

Lynne had a knack for being the life of the party and her storytelling grasped everyone’s attention as well as her poems, jingles and lyrics created with Marj’s help to acknowledge a birthday, retirement or special occasion. You could count on her delivery providing a moment or two of comic relief. Laughter was always heard when Lynne was in your midst and conversations with her were never short. She would regularly ask: “How are you doing?” and you knew she was genuinely interested in your response.

Lynne was definitely a people person and had an uncanny way of connecting with everyone she met throughout her life and based on her career choices and involvement in sports those connections were numerous and responsible for her large circle of friends.

One group of Lynne’s friends is female staff from SHDHS that golf on Tuesday mornings. I am a member of that group and we were fortunate to have Lynne book tee times and more importantly lunch reservations. Lynne was a natural on the golf course and impressed us all with her shots and unbelievable scores. Despite her extreme talent she never flaunted her ability and even though her patience was tested she was always willing to assist anyone and she did so in an offenceless manner. Lynne wanted golfers to enjoy the game as much as she did and she was always good-natured and used humour to put everyone at ease while on the course. I’m not sure who I will rely on now to locate my golf ball but I’ll continue to hear Lynne’s encouraging and supportive comments which coming from an expert like herself meant a lot to me. I also had the privilege of golfing in several tournaments with Lynne. This is where I saw her competitiveness and desire to give it her all on the course. Her familiarity with the various courses and her ability to remember each hole as well as the club she used to tee off with and whether or not her shot had been long or short previous years totally shocked me and definitely gave our team an advantage.

Lynne enjoyed the pleasures in life and considered spending time with Marj, her loving family and many friends very special moments. She touched so many lives in the very best way and I’m grateful to have known her.

Lynne’s most distinct voice that could be heard anywhere on a golf course has been silenced but I will continue to hear that voice and her spirit will lead us to the 19th hole where we will continue to reminisce about our dear friend Lynne while enjoying delicious food and ice cold beverages…two of Lynne’s favourite things.

May the special memories you all have of Lynne help you through this very difficult time.
Sincerely, Terri

Dear Marj and the Farquhar family

I am so sad to hear of Lynne’s passing. My deepest sympathy to you.

I was fortunate to have played on the same softball team as Lynne…fellow “Suns” outfielders!
Farq was the absolute best teammate and at the centre of all our entertainment and success on and off the field. She was one of a kind – so witty and fun to be around. We will miss hearing Farq’s recollection of “Suns stories” at our gatherings. What a loss for everyone.
Going to miss you Farq,
Rest in Peace

Dear Marj and Members of the Farquhar Family
This is such sad news. I had the pleasure of meeting Lynne when we both played fastball for the Milverton Suns. She was such a treasure…she had such an amazing sense of humour and kept us all entertained, reminiscing about all the funny stories that had happened in the past, many of them including her time with The Suns.
Farq was loved and respected by everyone. ❤️ She was so caring and thoughtful. It meant so much to our family when she and her friend Frem attended our daughter’s Celebration of Life, even though we had not played ball together for 44 years. She was always there to support everyone when they needed it.
Lynne, you will always be remembered for your great sense of humour, your genuine concern for everyone, for always giving 100% in everything you did, and the list goes on and on.
You will be missed so much by all of us…thank you for being such a special part of our lives.
Sending Big Hugs until we meet again.
Carol and Al Kish

I’m so sad to hear this news of the passing of Lynne,
I came to town when I was 3 years old, adopted by Pete and Ruth Durand and I have known Lynne probably since about that time. My mother Ruth ran the Saturday Kids bowling league. I knew her parents Grace and Aub very well. I have extreme fond memories of running around the bowling alley and all my time spent there which was a lot as a kid
My.
Condolences to all the family and friends. Lynne will be deeply missed by all. Xoxo

Marj and Lynne’s families

Many years ago Lynne and I were teammates with the Milverton Suns. A team in the 1970s that shared many hours and trips together on the way to winning 3 Ontario Senior Women’s Softball Championships and competing in 3 National Championships —placing 2nd in the Nationals in 1978 and 1979.
On and off the field Farq was a leader. She was the HUMOUR backbone of the Suns. Always the witty one, Farq’s voice lifted our spirit, entertained us and often led us in song.
A great story teller, she was our stand-up comedian— but also graciously acknowledged when occasionally one of us managed a humorous comeback.

“A true gem—may her light shine on”
