Another bright star in the universe. Nellie was an anchor for her husband, Mervyn and a “Star” and role-model for her daughters, Sheila and Jane. From the time we were little girls Nellie has always been there. We could walk in and out of the Eyre home and it seemed as if Nellie was always in the kitchen. And Lynne is right-Nellie was a terrific baker! I was as comfortable around Nellie as I was my own Mom. She was a quiet presence but her strength shone through.
Nellie touched many lives and Nellie, you will be truly missed but always loved and never forgotten.
Blessings to Mervyn. Sheila, Rob, Lauren and Amanda. Jane, Jake, Emily and Craig.

I’ve always believed it takes a village to raise a child. We grew up in a neighbourhood where all the moms took care of all the kids. We were extremely blessed to share Nellie as one of our mom’s. We thought Nellie was the coolest because she let us do anything.
It wasn’t until much later when we were all mothers that we realized that we really weren’t getting away with anything, that no matter where we were or what we were doing she knew it, she was watching us, and so long as we didn’t get out of control she gave us “room on our leashes” to explore life. We had an amazing feeling of trust. We also worked very hard to not disappoint her.
Nellie worked hard all day at Hartz, did laundry in a ringer washer, ironed sheets, and still had time to make the best fudge, pies, and amazing homemade popsicles! You wouldn’t understand if you’d never enjoyed one of those popsicles. They were one of the things I had to make for my children. I called Nellie to get the recipe, I don’t think she realized how the little things made us feel special, and we knew they were something you only got at the Eyre’s. The little things learned and shared are what life is all about, and Nellie made sure our lives were special.
Thanks, Nellie we will miss you.

You have our sincere condolences on the passing of Aunt Nellie. We are thinking of you during this difficult time and we wanted to share with you this quote:
“Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.”
Sincerely,
David & Nicole
