Aunt Gayle was my god-mother and sweet, wonderful aunt. I’ll never forget summers with the Elstons in Ontario, playing with Rachael, Tara and Becky as a child and spending time with Gayle and Dave at Mom and Dad’s wedding and Jared’s wedding. I cherish the times we had with Aunt Gayle and trust that she’s at peace now.

Grandpa, Grandma, Ruth, Sharon, Alan, Mom, Dave, Tara, Becky and Rachael… I’m so very sorry. I wish I could be there to hug you all and say that in person but I’m stuck here in New Brunswick. I love you so much and hope you manage to get through the grief without forgetting that it’s but a brief moment of pain compared to all of the wonderful times Gayle brought our family. I dreamt last night that we had cigar together on your patio, Uncle Dave. I wish we could do that now.

I love you all so much and miss Aunt Gayle with all of my heart.

We were saddened to hear the news of Gayle’s passing. We know she has faced her health challenges over the years with much courage and the pictures of her loving family show the love and joy you shared in spite of that. Gail always displayed a positive and happy love of life throughout our high school years together and I know she will be sadly missed…but lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Seeing the loving montage of your family life with Gayle brought back memories of the old days on Regis. Gayle was a great neighbour & friend. She faced the last years of her life with bravery & mirth. I recall her dental visit with us & the gestures she made with her tongue! She was a good communicator. I saw her once at Costco, pushing the cart, & Dave was pushing her in the wheelchair. It was a most telling picture of their relationship- real partners in life. We are thinking of you all at this time.

It was very telling, and it moved me.

Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your daughter, Gayle. It has been 33 years since I saw most of your family but in my heart I remember all of them very dearly. I found out about the tragic news through a travel agent from EllisonTours who visited Nfld. 8-10 years ago. When she visited Nfld. we spoke in person and ended up talking about your family because it was close to St. Mary’s. One thing led to another and in fact Lloyd’s brother bought a farm off their family or some relation. Anyway, 8 years have past and this woman saw the death notice and remembered that we were friends from long ago. It was so nice of her to take the time and inform me. I am so happy that I connected last evening with you Isabel and hopefully please God I will connect with Fern this evening. I am heart-broken for your loss. I will keep you all in my prayers and remember in my heart the wonderful family warmth and hospitality of 37 years ago. You will always be remembered. Please God I will see you in August.
