ELMES: Rovie Kathryn (Rilett) of Point Clark

October 13, 1924 – February 8, 2025

Rovie passed away peacefully at South Bruce Grey Health Centre-Kincardine, surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, February 8, 2025, in her 101st year. Beloved wife of the late Len Elmes (1993). Cherished mother of Kathy and Dave Trumble, and Kitt and Catherine Elmes. Proud grandma of Derek and Katrina Elmes, and Wes Elmes (Darren Avery). Adored great-grandma of Dawson, and Briar Elmes. Fondly remembered by Ian and Andrea Trumble (and their children; Evan, and Olivia) and Jean and Travis Breton (and their children; Jacob, and Emily). Dear sister and sister-in-law of Larry and Bonnie Rilett, and Mary Rilett. Loving aunt of her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Russ and Annie (Brown) Rilett, and her siblings and their spouses; Volaine and Jim Hodgins, Laurence Rilett, and Eloy and Reenie Rilett.

Rovie loved her family with all her heart. She kept herself busy through the winter by attending as many of her grandsons’ hockey games as possible. From dawn until dusk during the summer months, you would find Rovie on her front porch swing offering a friendly wave, a warm smile and working on a crossword puzzle. At the age of 93, she moved to Malcolm Place and later R Villa, where she thrived and reacquainted with many friends along the way.

Visitation will be held at the Point Clark Community Centre, 344 Lake Range Drive, Point Clark on Friday, February 14th from 10-11 AM, where Rovie’s funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM. Spring interment Pine River United Cemetery.

Donations in Rovie’s memory may be made to Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, The War Amps or a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Kincardine Hospital for their care and compassion shown to Rovie and her family. We would also like to pass our sincere appreciation to both Malcolm Place and R Villa for making Rovie feel right at home during her time there.

Condolence from Curt and Sheila Dawson on February 10th, 2025 12:05 PM

Kathy, Kitt and families,
Another old neighbour and friend gone. I’ve known Rovie for most of my life. She was a good friend of my mom, Beat Collins, and together they were the wallpaper queens of the area! They shared many good times with each other and our dads too. Often when Curt and I took a drive to Point Clark, if Rovie was on her porch, we would stop for a little chat. Lots of memories of Rovie and Mom taking all us kids to the beach. Hold the memories close.
