Dear Family,
I have wonderful childhood memories of our next door neighbour along the Elimville Line. Doris made delicious tea biscuits and the best apple sauce from the old orchard apples. She was care giver for three young girls while Mom & Dad were off welcoming baby girl #4 and on my wedding day she was called on to baby sit one more time as Catherine was too young for wedding festivities. Banana cake was a specialty. Three layers tall and yummy icing. I have often thought about the old cook stove and the wonderful fare from the Elford kitchen. I wonder how many Church Services she missed in her life time? Her choir space is reserved on a different level now I am certain. Doris will be remembered as a friend, neighbour and faithful community member. The few remaining daffodils from the old plot a symbol of a life well lived. A springtime smile. A smile today as I remember.
