EDWARDS: Doris Evelynn (Sims) of Goderich

“God told me to be happy, so I’m gonna.”

Has gone home today, November 5, 2018 in her 93rd year at the Maitland Manor, Goderich.  Doris is formerly of Exeter, Huron Park, Walkerton, and Crediton, Ontario.  Beloved wife of the late Jim Edwards.  Dear mother of Diane Edwards Anger and Chris Anger of Ripley, and Pat and Perry Luce of Hanover.  Dear grandmother of Daniel and Lisa Jones, Christine Jones and Max Johnson, Jennifer Jones and Paul Maher, Jaime Ann  and Jake Chilton; Ryan and Alexis Luce, and Ian and Jessica Luce. Great grandmother of Bryce and Drew Jones, Austin and Hudson Thomas, Madison and Cole Chilton, Cheyenne, Olivia, Ashton, and Hudson Luce.   Predeceased by her parents Sam and E. Jean (Baird) Sims, a brother Alvin Sims, and a sister Betty Laye.

Visitation will be held at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, EXETER on Thursday evening from 7-9 PM, and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held on Friday, November 9th at 11 AM. Interment Crediton Cemetery.

If desired, memorial donations to Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family.

sorry to hear the sad news of Doris’s passing. I didn’t get to see her the last few years but before that we always had good visits. she was a very nice person and will be missed. keep all of her memories close to your heart and she will always be with you. go bless

Such a dear soul, kind and sense of humor. I have known Doris for many yrs from out at Huron Park when I worked at ODC. Her & I had a few good laughs. I’m so sorry to hear of Doris’s passing! I’ve had the pleasure of doing Doris’s hair for many years and have truly enjoyed her marvelous sense of humour and great attitude towards life! Doris and Jim were great friends with my mother and father both in Exter and Walkerton.
Having known Doris for 70 years, I will always remember her smile and her always having a joke. We will miss her phone calls at Christmas.

Our sympathies to the Edwards family on the passing of Doris; I remember her visits with my grandparents in Grand Bend, and seeing her in Exeter when she lived here. Doris and my dad (Bill Baird) were first cousins and I know they shared many great times together.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your mom Doris. I remember spending time with you Pat and your parents in Crediton on weekends. In later years I ran into Doris and had little chats about those days. Cherish the memories and know she is with your Dad now watching over you all

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lived across the hall from Doris and enjoyed the lively conversations we had. I moved into the building on her birthday, so it has always stuck in my mind. I have missed her presence in the building, glad she is at peace with our Lord.
