It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Gerard “Gerry” Louis Ducharme in his 89th year, on Sunday, June 27, 2021. Gerard is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary (Meidinger) Ducharme. While Gerry had numerous jobs during his lifetime, he was happiest when he ran a livestock and cash crop farm. Gerry was a 4th degree member of the Fr. Stephen Eckert Knights of Columbus Council, Seaforth, Ontario.
He is survived by his children: Fr. Gary Ducharme of London, Judy and Kim McKinnon of Zurich, Gail and Randy Oke of Grand Bend, Beverly Jones of London, and Mary-Lynn and Doug Davis of London. Dad was blessed with 9 beautiful grandchildren: Amanda and Matt Smale, Jenna-Lee McKinnon and Korey McKinnon, Brenden and Jennifer Oke, Jessalyn and Dan Beaney, Josh Jones, Kate Jones and friend Aaron, Greg and Erin Davis, Kayley Davis and friend Jamie. He was also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren: Brayden and Brooklyn Smale, Eloise and Wally Oke, Leo Davis and twin great-granddaughters soon to arrive. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Annette Overholt, Ken and Jo-Ann Ducharme, Barbara and Dick Rau, Marilyn Hassall, Dianne Wilson, Carol Ducharme, Ruth Ducharme, and Marilyn Thiel. Gerard is predeceased by his parents Louis and Theresa (Sreenan) Ducharme, brothers, sisters, and their spouses, Cecilia and Leonard Tocker, Donald and Lorraine Ducharme, Marjorie and Ivan Meidinger, Eugene Ducharme, Rose and Dennis Overholt, Yvonne and Phil Overholt, Charles Ducharme, and Larry Ducharme. Dear brother-in-law of Theresa Regier, Virgina Denomme, Steve and Pat Meidinger, and Anne and Cyrille Hartman. Deceased in-laws Roman and Elsie Meidinger, Margurite and Paul Jaster, Clem Regier, Leo and Cecile Meidinger, Lloyd Dennome, and Martha and Philip Vercourterin.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 49 Goshen Street North, ZURICH on Tuesday evening from 6 – 9 PM. Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, each person must RSVP for the visitation. Please click “Register Now” below to register.
A private family Funeral Mass will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Zurich on Wednesday, June 30th at 1 PM with Fr. Gary Ducharme presiding. Interment St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, St. Joseph.
