DICKS: Chris of Exeter formerly of Kitchener

Passed away at LHSC – Victoria Hospital, London on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the age of 61. Beloved husband of Marion (Rattee) Dicks for 34 years. Cherished father of Christopher, Melissah, and Caleb (Mya). Loving grandpa of Sahara, and Benjamin. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Jackie and Tim Heumann, James Rattee, Mike and Lisa Rattee, and Jennifer and Dan Arndt. Son-in-law of John Rattee. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family back in England. Predeceased by his parents Bryan and Catherine (Parr) Dicks and his mother-in-law Barbara Rattee.

Chris enjoyed spending the seasons outdoors, whether he was camping, fishing or enjoying nature walks. He also loved golfing, scuba diving and bicycle rides with his children and grandchildren. Chris also enjoyed any crafting projects he could get his hands on. He would often fix, design or engineer items to help his family and others. He was the happiest when he was serving others and being surrounded by family.

Chris worked as a transmitter operator and engineer for Trans World Radio from 1981-1991. He then joined Christian Horizons team in Ottawa from 1991-1995, then transferred to Kitchener in 1995 to continue his career as a residential counsellor. Chris later joined Home and Park Roadtrek in 1999 as a Service and Warranty Specialist for 21 years. After Roadtrek closed Chris became the plant 2 manager at General Coach in Hensall, Ontario. A year later Mobilife RV Centre snatched Chris and took him back to Kitchener as a Service and Warranty Division Manager.

Chris will be remembered for his sense of humour, cheekiness, and dry groaner dad jokes, his story telling, love for helping people and his big kind loving heart. Most importantly Chris enjoyed sharing his faith and love for Jesus Christ to anyone whether in action or in word.

Special thank you to Dr. Duncan, Dr. Power and the rest of their vascular team, Dr. Nicoletti and the rest of the General Surgical team at LHSC – Victoria Hospital, Nurse Daniel, Jenna and the rest of the staff at Exeter Hospital and Nick at Greenbrook Pharmacy.

Chris’ funeral service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 3 PM at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 40007 Kirkton Road, Centralia. Please wear your colourful attire. A private interment will be held at McTaggart Cemetery in the spring.

Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada, or Samaritan’s Purse in Chris’ memory would be appreciated by the family.
