DENOMME: Gregory James Phillip of Zurich

Jesus said “today you will be with me in paradise”

Passed away at LHSC- University Hospital as the sun rose on Easter Sunday morning, April 17, 2022, in his 81st year.

Cherished husband and best friend of Jan (Cromie) Denomme for over 30 years. Proud father of Rhonda and Rick Guzik, Connie Denomme, Terry and Patty Denomme, Jason and Lori-Anne Denomme, Alisa and Buddy Franck, Chad and Stephanie Culp, and Steven and Melinda Culp. Adored Papa and Grandpa of Elysia and Jason, Amanda and Jason, Joel, Taryn and Phillip, Colton, Makayla, Caiden, Jacob, Max, Nolan, and Atticus. Great Grandfather to Amaiah, Ava, and Koya. Beloved son-in-law of Joanne and the late Jim Truckle and Sandy Cromie. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Gail and Leo Debus, Les and Arlene Denomme, Dale and Steve Hart, Dean and Christine Truckle, MaryAnn Truckle, and Chris and Monique Truckle. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Garfield and Florence (Denomme), sister Delores Stanton (Joe).

Greg had many talents and hobbies. He shared his love of railroads and trains with friends and family. Greg had a giant track at his home, hand laid and carefully thought always ensuring it was built to perfection. He held a deep passion for anything automotive, from drag racing; to building his own street rods; and an honorable nod to his many passions through his career choice as a mechanic. Eventually leading him to own Denomme Automotive, Greg’s truck business of over fifty years.

Greg and Jan enjoyed many rod runs around Canada and the United States. Often in the big yellow 1948 Chevy pick up or his fuchsia navy topped 1937 Chevy Cabriolet convertible. Greg was also an avid hockey fan who loved watching his children and grandchildren on the ice, or cozy at home under a blanket watching the Toronto Maple Leaf’s. Greg was also a talented woodworker; helping build the beloved home on the lake as well as many squirrel feeders, shelves, and odds and ends around his home. Above all, Greg’s strong faith in God and deep love for his family were always his top priority.

Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 49 Goshen Street North, ZURICH on Friday evening from 6 – 9 PM. Registration is required and appreciated. Please click “Register Now” below, to register.

Greg’s Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 73334 Bluewater Highway, Zurich (St. Joseph) on Saturday, April 23rd at 11 AM with Father Steve Eckert and Father David Johnston presiding. Interment to follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, St. Joseph. Registration is not required to the attend funeral mass.

For those unable to attend the Funeral Mass, the family invites you to join with them from the comfort of your home. Stream the live service or at your convenience by visiting www.facebook.com/haskettfh.

Donations to Blessings Community Store in Zurich or St. Peter’s Church (St. Andre Healing Garden) would be appreciated with gratitude by the family.
