Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Spruce Lodge, Stratford, at the age of 93. Case was born in Goirle, Brabant, the Netherlands, and was the dear son of the late Johannes “Jan” and Johanna “Jaans” (Brekelmans) de Brouwer. He was predeceased by his loving wives, Maria van de Ven and Elizabeth Taylor, as well as his siblings.
He is survived by his sister Ria Van Gool (Paul); his in-laws, Tom Smeekens and Riek de Brouwer–van Dijk. Proud father of John (Cindy) de Brouwer, Marian de Brouwer, Donna Mosurinjohn (Jody), Nancy Dale, Barb Inch (Jerry Johnson), David Smith (Tammy), and Christine Glover (Bill).
Cherished Opa of Rory (Dani), Rachel (Jake), Russell, Sarah, Dan (Catherine), Cheyenne, Carly (Jeff), Bradley (Katie), Brittany (Jon), Bryan (Angela), Jeff (Jen), Melissa (Chris), Whitney (Ahmed), Brady (Rebecca), Jaimee (Chance), Justine (Alex), and Jaclyn (John). Case was blessed with 29 great-grandchildren, with four more on the way.
Case was born and raised in the Netherlands, where he worked on the family farm. In 1981, he immigrated to Canada with his son and daughter. They settled in Oxford County, where he became a dairy farmer from 1981 until his retirement.
Case loved playing cards with friends in his younger years and never missed an opportunity to go dancing, which is where he met both Maria and Elizabeth. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, and listening to fiddle music. While he was still able to drive, he loved touring the countryside; often on these trips, he would stop at his favourite restaurants, Anna Mae’s and Quehl’s.
Case was blessed with a loving family and kind friends who provided support throughout his journey. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the attentive team of PSWs, nurses, and doctors who ensured he was comfortable and well cared for at Spruce Lodge.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street West, SEAFORTH on Wednesday, January 7th from 10 –11 AM, where Case’s funeral service will be held at 11 AM. Spring interment Egmondville Cemetery.

Donations to ONECARE, Spruce Lodge Foundation, or a hospital of your choosing would be appreciated by the family.
While I didn’t know Case as well as his brothers Tony and Simon and his sister, Catharina, I always knew they were all my father’s (Joseph Degroot) cousins. Condolences to all families.
