After a brief illness with ALS, Arend Vincent de Boer, born December 7, 1941, went to be with the His Lord and Saviour on Monday, October 28, 2019, with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Mary “Anne” de Boer. Loving father of Suzanne DeKay, David de Boer, the late Mark de Boer (1980), Tracey (Brian) Jones and Lisa (Mike Acton) de Boer. Proud Papa of 9 grandchildren; Danielle, Mark, Elliot (Angela), Sarah (Jamie), Andrew, Ainsley, Payton, Vanessa, and Luke and 2 great grandchildren; Aspen, and Everest. Dear brother and brother-in-law of John (Judy) de Boer, and Rini (Ray) Black. He was predeceased by his parents, Willem and Tjiske de Boer, his brothers Hette (Jeltje), Ale (Willie), Simon, Durk (Bea), and sister Margaret (Percy).
Arend began his years of service as a Naval Officer in the Canadian Forces, followed by a career with the Toronto Police Force (Mounted Unit) and then retiring from the London Police Force after 23 years. Throughout his life, he enjoyed his days kayaking, sailing, horseback riding as well as tennis and golf. Arend was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Church Choir.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 32922 Richmond Street, Lucan, on Wednesday, October 30th at 4 PM, Father Ross Bartley Presiding. Following Mass, family and friends are invited to Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan for a time of fellowship and refreshment. Private family interment will be held at St. Patrick Cemetery, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Ontario.

He was a very kind gentleman who never failed to make me laugh.
I had a horse and was always asking me about him, he always use to say when
he saw me, “How’s you Black Stud,” even though he had seen a picture of TK
