Passed away peacefully at Alexandra Marine & General Hospital with his family by his side on April 15, 2025 at the age of 77. Loving husband of Betty Ann Coleman (2021) for 37 years. Survived by his twin sister, Joan Cleave of Exeter, and his brother, Allen Coleman of Nanaimo, BC. Cherished stepdad of Cheryl and Paul Kruse, Stephen and Sandy Seymour, Bill and Lynn Seymour, and Robin and Darlene Seymour. Adored papa of 8 grandchildren and great-papa of 8 great-grandchildren. Dear brother-in-law of Murial Davidson, Phyllis and Laverne Pembleton, and Keith and Connie Patterson. Loved uncle of Sherri Coleman, Chris Cleave, Carrie Cleave, and Ronald Michael-Scott and their families. Predeceased by parents Harold and Mary Coleman, sister Margaret (Laverne) Scott, brother Donald Coleman, and his nephew Kevin Coleman.
Anyone who knew John knew that he was a die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays fan, never missing a game. He spent many years helping the local Seaforth hockey teams and John would often come into work early or on his own time to open the rink early for the kids to practice. John was known for his love of his family, coming out to every family function and all of his grandchildren’s sporting events.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Goderich Place Retirement Residence for their exceptional care and compassion they have shown to John over the years.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 87 Goderich St W, SEAFORTH on Tuesday, April 22nd from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, where John’s funeral service will be held at 11am. Interment Harpurhey Cemetery.

Dear Joan and Al and families, Sorry on hearing of John passing . John sure was one of the so called rink rats and helped Roy,Hazel and George who spent countless hours at the old Arena. We sure had a lot of fun. One year we scrapped some money together at Christmas and gave Hazel a box of chocolates and Roy a pile lined vest. First and only time I ever saw Roy with a tear in his eye. John Munro
