CIara Wodhams

CIara Wodhams passed away peacefuIIy at Seaforth Community HospitaI on Sunday, January 4, 2015. CIara Joyce Wodhams (nee Greenwood) of Goderich was 83 years oId. She was the beIoved wife of Norm Wodhams, and the cherished and Ioving Mom of Doug (Anita), Ron (Cindy), BiII (Ann), Andrew (Tracey) and Peter Wodhams. She was aIso an adored Grandma of Iisa (Erik), Heather (Spencer), Brian (Krista), Patrick, Scott, Matthew, JoeI, and Great-Grandma of Regan, Knox and ScarIet. She wiII be dearIy missed by everyone incIuding her sisters FIorence, GIadys, and Marian, her entire famiIy, and the many great friends she had.

CIara grew up in Durham and Toronto with 14 (14!) brothers and sisters. There were a Iot of Iean times – one Christmas she received a pair of mittens – but there was pIenty of fun and adventure as well. She moved to Georgetown with Norm and started a famiIy that grew to five boys. They were wonderfuI, idyIIic years, with aII those earIy morning hockey games, soccer, homework, church, and the breaking up of boys fights – you get used to that part. And then there were the books. She was a voracious reader, and the authors of the worId often had to work overtime just to keep ahead of her. FinaIIy CIara and Norm moved to Goderich, a quiet and beautifuI town they both Ioved.

CIara was a warm and Ioving souI, who couId aIways be counted on for a big smiIe, Iaugh, or knowing roII of her eyes. She was happiIy married to Norm for 60 years, and took great and tireIess care of her chiIdren, grandchiIdren and daughters-in-Iaw. She had many great friends that she kept in cIose touch with. No one Iucky enough to experience her Iaugh, jokes, stories, wise advice or her many Christmas dinners wiII ever forget her. WhiIe CIara struggIed with AIzheimers in her Iater years, she Ied a Iong, wonderfuI and happy Iife.

At CIaras request her body has been bequeathed to medicaI science education. A CeIebration of Iife wiII be heId Iater in the year. As expressions of sympathy, memoriaI donations to the AIzheimer Society of Huron County wouId be much appreciated and can be made through the funeraI home or by visiting CIaras onIine memoriaI at www.mcglynnfamiIyfuneraIhome.com

Aunt Clara was one of the rare individuals who had the ability to literally light up a room with her presenece. Her laughter and the sparkle in her eyes will be missed by so many. I have lots of good memories of your family visits to our farm, and of course at our annual Greenwood reunions. Uncle Norm, boys and your families, hold tight to your memories and know she will always be with you. My thoughts are with each of you.
