June 1, 1931 – October 14, 2025
Peacefully, with family by his side, Meredith “Skip” Charlton of Ilderton passed away at University Hospital on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Marjerie (O’Neil) Charlton (2016). Loving father of Mark (Raksany), Marcie (Tracy), and Carrie (Travis). Proud Grandad of Amy Zavitz. Skip will be lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law Jocelyn O’Neil (the late Stuart), Deirdre (the late Max), as well as the late Bill and Helen Sande. He is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Carrie (Martin), and his brother Don (Elaine).
Born and raised in Ilderton, Skip was a proud lifelong member of his community. He deeply valued his involvement with Ilderton United Church and was a charter member of the Ilderton and District Lions Club, where he began serving in 1954. Skip was a long-time employee of 3M Canada.
Skip had a love of sports. He played hockey in his younger years and later took up curling and golf. He was happiest puttering in the garden and took great care of the vegetables, flowers, and yard. Skip will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to service, and his unwavering love for family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Sunday from 2 – 4 PM, where Skip’s funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20th at 11 AM. Cremation with interment Littlewood Cemetery, Middlesex Centre.
Donations to Ilderton United Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

We were saddened to hear of your dad’s passing. Skip and our dad, Jack Wood (d.2020) were lifelong friends and next-door neighbours for several years in Ilderton. We remember the many stories of the mischief that they got into growing up and the bond that they had. Skip was such a kind man, always a welcoming smile and a kind word.
Our thoughts are with you all.

Mark, Marcie and Carrie,
I was saddened to hear of Skip’s passing. He was a dear part of our past—someone my husband shared many memories with from their earliest days, and someone we both held in deep respect.
Though time and life’s paths meant they didn’t speak often, the bond they shared remained meaningful. Jack often spoke of Skip with warmth and admiration, recalling stories that still bring a smile. It’s a rare thing to have a friendship that spans a lifetime, even if from afar.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I hope you find comfort in the many lives he touched and the legacy he leaves behind.
With sympathy,
Renona
