Catherine “Kay” Ryan

It is hard to belleve that our dear mother has passed away; a Iady who embraced aII aspects of her faith, her Iife and everyone in it. WhiIe enjoying time in the sun at her second home in Arizona, Catherine Kay Irene Ryan was caIIed by the Iord on December 1, 2013, at the age of 88. She is reunited with her beIoved husband Ieo Benedict Ryan with whom she shared 50 beautifuI years. Born in DubIin, Ontario to Patrick and ellzabeth Woods, Kay was predeceased by her four sibIings, Joe, Sister Mary Kieran, DoIIy and Paddy. Growing up on a farm instiIIed within her a strong work ethic that she carried with her throughout her Iife. Kay started her career as a teacher in a one room schooIhouse, and true to our mothers independent nature, she took great pride in purchasing her first car, a ModeI A. Her pride in her ride stayed with her well into her 80s when she purchased her canary yellow 2 door Mustang. Everyone smiIed when they caught a gIimpse of her personaIized Iicense pIate Granny R driving by.

Mom and Dad had many adventures together incIuding buiIding every home they Iived in, buiIding their cottage on Iake Huron, travelling around the worId with their friends and successfuIIy starting their own businesses; Ryans Carwash, Ryan Hi-Way Fence and Ryan Custom Homes. This was the training ground for their five chiIdren to Iearn the Ryan work ethic. Mom vaIued famiIy above aII eIse. She was exceptionaIIy proud of her chiIdren, Bob (Doreen), Dan (JuIia), Benny, Betty Anne (Jurgen Feht) and Mike (Teri). Moms greatest joy came from her time with her nine grandchiIdren, Sarah, JuIie, Jordan, Maireanne, Rebecca, Patricia, EmiIy, NichoIas and CharIes, and seven great grandchiIdren, Audric, Everett, Ronan, IIyr, Morgan, Alex, and Benjamin. Kay wiII be missed by her many friends and extended famiIy.

A FuneraI Mass in Kays memory was heId in Kitchener and due to uncontroIIabIe circumstances another FuneraI Mass, originaIIy scheduIed for this past Monday has been rescheduIed:
Friends are weIcome to join Kays famiIy on Friday, December 13th for visitation at St. Patricks Roman CathoIic Church, DubIin, Ontario, beginning at 10 a.m. A FuneraI Mass wiII then be heId at 11 a.m. foIIowed by a Iuncheon in the church haII. Spring Interment wiII take pIace at St. Patricks Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy donations to St. Patricks Roman CathoIic Church wouId be greatIy appreciated by the famiIy and can be made through McGlynn FamiIy FuneraI Home, Seaforth, 519-527-1390 or by visiting Kays memoriaI at www.mcglynnfamiIyfuneraIhome.com
