E&L
My sympathies to Carol’s family on her passing. She was one of the best pianists around and enjoyed sharing her love of music with everyone.
Our condolences at the loss of your Mother, Carol. She was a wonderful lady and I enjoyed our small chats at the nursing home. I will miss her smiles and the beautiful music she played. She touched a lot of hearts throughout the years and may her memories carry your family through these tough times.
Carol taught my girls piano from age 6 into their late teens. Every Tuesday they went for a lesson. She taught for 30 mins and built in 15 mins to chat. She was a phenomenal pianist and teacher.
She was like a second grandma in childhood, a constant in their lives for many, many years. Sydney said she learned so much at her piano bench, and not just about piano but mostly about how to have fun in life. She had themes for every holiday. Coloured pencils and decorations and music pieces to match. She got the girls in the spirit each time they visited her.
One of the important life lessons they learned in piano from her is to keep going with things, that a difficult piece gets easier with time. Hopefully this is true with your loss as well. Hopefully it will get easier with time. We will forever think of Carol when we hear Music box dancer see Halloween decorations, sticky notes, paper clips and rosebuds. We will remember the memory of her little orange car bombing down the road off to find another sale or have coffee with Audrey.
What a gift she has been. Her music will play on. Thank you for the music Carol! 🎶 Our deepest sympathy to her family and friends.
My deepest sympathy to you Julie and family. I remember well the times she came into the manor to entertain the residents .
Carol was my lifelong friend and duo piano partner.
With this in mind i feel I must also comment on Carol’s career as a performer which is a very different and rewarding part of her Life
We started out together in festival competition but quickly moved into the realm of stage performance. We performed in Seaforth in the first instance but quickly moved to bigger venues in Montreal’s Victoria Hall and The Study in Montreal. In April of 1979 we were invited to perform in Nassau Bahamas at the
Auditorium of Nassau Civic Ballet under the Patronage of Lady Caroline Butler.
In January of 1982. I invited Carol to perform with me in Trinidad WI in a light Classical concert featuring The Love Movement ( professional local choir ) the Samaroo Jets Steel Orchestra and two nine foot grand pianos. Carol later told me it was the highlight of her career.
For Carol and Myself this life of performance was what stimulated us to acheive the excellence which propelled our careers forward.
Thank you Carol for being a part of the wonderful fulfilling career we both loved and shared. You will be in my heart forever.
Our deepest condolences to all of the Carter families in the loss of Carol. May she rest in peace. She has left a legacy of music and friendship that was enjoyed by so many of us who knew her.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Carol’s family. With her incredible musical talent, she inspired countless individuals to sing and play. Many Saturday and Sunday mornings we practiced or performed together at First Presbyterian Church during our childhood. So many fun times with the Carter’s at their home. She was always full of smiles and kindness towards everyone. Sending hugs to all.
Our sincere condolences to the Carter
family on the loss of Carol. She was a great gifted lady. May she rest in peace.
No one could play the church organ like Carol. Her talent was beyond measure. Please know that we are thinking of your family as you say goodbye to your mom. She will always be a treasured memory for each of you.
My heartfelt condolences to the families. Share many wonderful memories with heart and song
We remember Carol for her amazing musical talent. She was a long time friend
I can safely say that having lessons with Carol were a bright cornerstone of my childhood. Skipping recess to head down the stairs behind the gymnasium at Seaforth Public School to her little piano studio setup was something I looked forward to every week— and would continue to take lessons with her for a whole decade of my life. We had such fun conversations and always something to laugh about, from telling me about her lawn bowling competitions to expanding her musical knowledge by learning the bagpipes, she seemed to always be doing something that brought her joy. I vividly remember her decorations and themed outfits throughout the seasons, always so fun and vibrant… she teased me for years that once, when I was young, I earnestly asked if one of her Christmas earrings were tiny gift bows she had stuck on her ears. She made sure to always wear the same earrings when I had my lessons with her every Christmas after. She had such a contagious laugh and it felt so easy to chat the time away, we’d often have to catch ourselves and make sure we actually got to the lesson too.
I count myself so fortunate to have been able to know her for so many years as her student, and a friend. She also gave me a priceless gift in the music she shared and the skills she taught to me and so many others. I believe it is truly a wonderful thing to think about how her presence will be still felt by so many years from now through that sharing of her knowledge and passion for piano and all music. Her gift was not just in the beautiful pieces she performed, but in sharing those talents with others, encouraging any and all to participate, connecting so many of us through it. Just as the pieces we would play together were from composers of many eras past, I know that there will be many generations of musicians to come who will have Carol to thank for being such a patient teacher, and passing along her gifts to so many in our community.
My deepest sympathies to all those who knew Carol. No words will do justice to express the impact one person can have on our lives.
My condolences to all Carol’s family and friends. She went to SHDHS with me and she played at my wedding in 1966. Lovely memories.

Sincerely sorry for the loss of a wonderful lady Carol. And to all the Carter family may they know she is at peace RIP CAROL
Sorry for your loss our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families
To Carol’s family and many friends my sincere sympathy. I cannot believe she was 81! Carol seemed to be a part of our community fabric. Many years ago while coaching ringette our association put on a fashion show to raise money for this “new” sport. The show was a huge success and I remember hearing from the big wedding store that sent models and clothes from London that our background piano music was the best they had ever heard. Carol and Marg Whitmore had shared those piano duties. I always remembered that compliment and was reminded of the treasures we have and sometimes take for granted. Carol touched many lives and we are all the better because of this.
Please accept my condolences to all of the Carter family

What can I say of my best friend of 60+ years. The get togethers, the dances, the ringette games, hockey games, etc., and not to mention some heartaches along the way. You were a true friend Carol. Was so glad that I got a last hug & a good game of bingo at Huronview before you passed 2 weeks later. What a shock.
Will remember Carol’s laugh & smile forever. Keep that piano hopping Carol.
Our deepest sympathy to all of you.

Joanne, Janice, Brad, Julie and family.
My condolences on the loss of Carol. I have so many fond memories sitting beside her on the bench either chatting, soaking up her music knowledge or finally mastering a recital solo or a tricky duet with her. Her signature playing style left an indelible mark whether she was at the piano or the organ (and the anticipation of her pulling out all those stops or playing the bells!). May you find solace in her music and recordings, and may your fond memories with her bring you comfort and peace at this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Bonnie (Bannerman) Henson
So sorry for your loss. What a gift she was to the community.
Carol was such a joyful and inspiring presence in our lives. She taught all three of us McQuaid sisters piano and theory with patience, enthusiasm, and genuine care. Her lessons were never just about notes and rhythms — they were about discovering the joy of music. She made theory fun and believed in our abilities even when we doubted ourselves. The end-of-year recitals were always a highlight; we were mesmerized watching Carol perform her own solo or play a duet with a student. We have fond memories of her traveling with us to the Western Fair to accompany our violin competitions — always smiling, encouraging, and steady at the piano. The piano truly was her breath; music flowed from her so naturally. Her influence helped shape not only our musical paths but also our lifelong love of music. We will always remember her warmth, talent, and the beautiful way she shared her gift.
Our Deepest Sympathy to Carol’s Family on her passing we want you all to know we are thinking of you all at this difficult time sending hugs to you all . She always smiled when we see her on the street when she was in town . RIP CAROL !!!!! You will be missed .
She played and my husband sang a few times at the home it was beautiful will always be great full and she always smiled a lovely lady
My sincere condolences to Carol’s family.
Carol made a positive impact on countless people in the Seaforth community and beyond. A gifted piano teacher and talented performer, she spread the joy of music everywhere. I remember how fun it was to play duets with her, and how she encouraged me in my pursuit of ‘Flight of the Bumblebee.’
I remember her impressive performances of Chopin pieces, a composer also loved by my grandma. Recitals at the Presbyterian church were an annual tradition that brought many families together.
It wasn’t long ago that I ran into her at Pizza Train, where she was asking about my family members (also her former students). She’s left a profound legacy and will be missed.
We extend our deepest condolences to all Carol’s family. Carol was a lovely, cheery lady. Bill always enjoyed his many chats with Carol, when she taught piano, at Seaforth Public School. May cherished memories help you all through this sad and difficult time. Sincerely Gail and Bill Price
Our sincere condolences to the family of Carol Carter. Her musical talents were enjoyed by so many and left us with wonderful memories.
Carol was a great lawn bowling partner for my mother Edna, who enjoyed their summer tournaments and get togethers. I too was Carol’s piano pupil and am sure she dismayed at my inability to catch on. She never let on though, and I am grateful for her patience. She leaves a wonderful legacy of talent and teaching. Her family must be very proud.
Sincere sympathy to the Carter family, thinking of you all

I met Carol through Ross Ribey at Whitney Ribey Funeral Home, many years ago. She often played the piano for funerals. She was always smiling. At one of the BIA Christmas Dinners, she joined the funeral home staff for the dinner. She generously shared her dessert with me! God blessed her with a most wonderful gift of music, which she so gracefully shared with those around her. To her family and dearest friends, our deepest sympathies.

To All of Carol’s family our sincere sympathy.
I first met Carol many years ago when my sister and I took tap dancing lessons from a Mrs Broderick in Hensall. Carol was more advanced than we were and she was the instructor’s assistant. Those were good times and I am sorry you lost her.
Carol Hunt
My elementary school memories are dotted with Monday nights after school, sitting at the piano in her living room, and trying to wrap my brain around new pieces (and how to get my left hand and right hand to cooperate). “Teaching Little Fingers to Play” – tucked in a zip-up folder, each page covered with stickers – was my introduction to music. I didn’t practice nearly as much as I should have, but Carol was patient… and stern when necessary. “Wipeout” and “Good King Wenceslas” still bring me right back to Carol and her piano. My favourite lessons were when, to give us both a break, she would pull something out of her repertoire and let me watch. Then it was back to dotted quarter notes and “All Cows Eat Grass.”
Thank you for the music. We will all miss you.
My condolences to the Family & Friends of Carol –
I am shocked and saddened to hear of Carol’s passing. I am another piano student and have good memories of having lessons with her. I received my Grade 8 Piano and Grade 2 Theory with her. It was always so nice whenever I would have a chance meeting with her. I send my sympathies and hope that time will help ease your pain.

Carol’s family:
It is with great sadness that I acknowledge the Passing of Carol. I grew up near Hensall and we attended many functions together, including Girl Guides, Explorers, etc. We were good friends, and I’m truly going to miss her.
