CAMARA: Joe of Lucan, formerly of London

Passed away unexpectedly at his home in the arms of his loving wife on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the age of 60. Cherished and loving husband of Nelia (Soares) Camara for over 36 years. Proud father of Michelle (Christopher) Dasilva, Kevin (Nicole) Camara, and Vanesa (Justin) Degraaf. Adored Vavo of  Flynn, Nicholas, Elliana, Celestine, Matteo, and Evelyn. Dear brother of the late Eduardo (Eva), Eduarda (Tony), Orianna (Joe), Anita (Glen), the late Fernando, Elias (Claudia), and Paul (Michelle) and brother-in-law of the late Serafim (Adelina), John (Eduarda), Teresa (William), Carlos (Tracy), Steve (Elizabeth). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Augusto and Enoia (Bonito) Camara.

He had a passion for farming and gardening, Joe found joy in nurturing the land, creating vibrant gardens, and harvesting nature’s bounty. His love for fishing provided moments of serenity and excitement, shared with friends and family. He was a lover of all animals and took care of them as part of the family. A creative man, Joe could build almost anything. His 30 years as a concrete form setter provided him with creativity to bring home and turn ordinary materials into extraordinary creations. Above all, Joe’s heart belonged to his family. His love and creativity infused every gathering with warmth and laughter, creating cherished memories that will endure.

Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.

Joe’s Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 32922 Richmond Street, LUCAN on Friday, February 9th at 11 AM. Interment St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Lucan.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
