BRITTON: Jeremy “Jer” of Bayfield

Passed away on October 10, 2021 at Jessica’s House hospice surrounded by family at age 49. Jeremy was born July 11, 1972 in Sarnia, Ontario and worked as a Class A Elevator Mechanic in Toronto for 21 years. He was a proud member of the IUEC Local 50, and the family is grateful for the Union’s support throughout these difficult times. Jeremy will be missed by his mother Diane and stepfather John Daly, as well as his many siblings John Daly (Diane), Jenny Flumerfelt (Tom), Ed Daly (Peggy), Dan Daly (Sandy), Nora Penhale (Kevin), Tina Bax (Scott Gregory), Heather Netherway (John), Jacalyn Britton (Justin Reeves), and stepmother Laurie Britton (Don Jones). He was predeceased by his father, George Britton.

Cremation has taken place. Jer’s friends and family are invited to join for a memorial service in Sarnia on Monday, November 1st. If you would like to attend the service, please email jer@baxtacular.com for additional details (time and location). Blessed with a large family but cursed with social distancing limitations, the family will make every attempt to include all who wish to attend, but please understand this may not be possible.

Jeremy and his family will be forever grateful to the Cystic Fibrosis Clinics at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and at London Health Sciences Centre, especially navigator extraordinaire Tracy Gooyers.  The Higgs Home Health Care team out of Goderich provided Jeremy with the support that allowed him to remain home instead of staying in hospital. Our family simply could not have facilitated Jer’s transition without them. In addition to Patty, Kendall, and Kayla from the LHIN, the care team at Jessica’s House will have the family’s eternal thanks for the exceptional and dignified end-of-life care they provided for Jeremy.  Thank you, Codi, Pat, Taylor, and Cindy, as well as Tracy for facilitating the bed when it was desperately needed.  Alexandra Marine & General Hospital in Goderich also provided excellent emergency care during Jeremy’s final months:  thank you.

Donations would be welcome to the London Health Sciences Centre Foundation (please stipulate for use in the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic only) or Jessica’s House. We thank you for any consideration you may feel compelled to give.  It is not expected, but gratefully appreciated.

Condolence from Sheila Malloy on October 21st, 2021 10:46 AM

My deepest sympathies in this time of sadness. No words can really convey sympathies nor soothe the soul at a time like this but these words evoke, to me, a sense of peace and freedom.

I Am The Gentle Autumn Rain.

Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain.

Sending my sincere condolences to your family during this time of grief. I had the pleasure of working with Jeremy at Fujitec and he was a great mentor who always had a smile on his face. He will be missed.

It was an honour to help this very special guy in his last months of life. Our condolences to the family on their loss. Cystic Fibrosis is a terrible disease which Jeremy faced with courage, dignity and humour.

Condolence from Martha Beechie on October 21st, 2021 12:20 PM

I was happy to have met Jeremy here in Bayfield. He was not with us long enough, still I can see his smile as he rode past me on his motorized wheels! I think we all will have our own big smiles when we think of him. To Tina and Scott thank you for bringing Jer to Bayfield, a community in which he fit in easily with his humour, open heart, kindness and oh, that big smile. My heart goes out to you, I hope your memories offer some condolences in saying good bye to this wonderful young man.

I am so happy I got to spend with Jeremy- in Bayfield, surrounded by friends and family. A witty man with a contagious laugh and energy. I’m thinking of my aunt Tina and her family in this time and sending positive thoughts and love their way. While Jeremy’s time with us was shorter than we would have liked, I’m grateful he lived a great life while he was here. Sending love to his pup Sophie – it’s a hard change for her too.

Condolence from Sharon Lea LaPier on October 21st, 2021 10:01 PM

To Diane, Tina ,John Daly and all the Britton family our sadness at the loss of Jeremy in the LaPier family is great. Sometimes big families grow apart as we each raise our own branch and it grows. That does not mean we do not still love each other. We loved Jeremy as we do all of you. God will give him the peace he never could find and in all your hearts find comfort. A great nephew in relationship and in reality . God bless all of you . Aunt Sharon

So sad to hear of this passing. Jer was a wonderful guy and always helpful at work with a tip or advice. Great guy to have a beer with after work.

Condolence from Ron Richards on December 24th, 2021 3:50 PM

My most sincere condolences to all Jeremy’s family and friends. I only learned of his passing today, Dec24. Jeremy and I spent quite some time together with Willie Quan at Fujitec. He was always fun to work with and as the junior man on the job endured some good natured ribbing. Also, as a past Kinsman, I was shocked to learn that he had CF at his age. Yes, we had a few wobbly pops with him after work. He was fun to be with.
Once again, my full sympathies to all who miss him.
Ron Richards Local 50, retired.
