Condolence from Paul Ufford on February 6th, 2017 10:25 AM

Lois and family,
It is with great sadness that I hear of Colin’s passing.
I first met Colin as a fellow teacher at Craigwood in Ailsa Craig back in the early 1980s. As a teacher of troubled teens, Colin was caring, compassionate and highly competent. As part of a close-knit staff of educators, Colin was a consummate team player, always supportive of his colleagues. He brought good humour, optimism, maturity and sound judgement to challenging work.
In difficult times Colin was there for you as a friend; you could always count on him. Colin was tireless in his commitment to community and in a selfless, humble way devoted countless hours to making things better for so many, even when facing challenges himself. He was an excellent role model.
Colin’s unwavering devotion to his beloved Leafs is typical of his steadfast, loyal nature and when the ‘Buds’ finally win the Cup again, we know he’ll be smiling. My heartfelt condolences to you.
Paul

Condolence from Sarah Johnston on February 6th, 2017 8:57 PM

Upon hearing of Mr. Brewer’s passing, I was immediately transported back in time to the ball diamond. From his signature “OUT!” call from behind the plate to the time he kicked me out of the ballpark for foul language. Not only was i ejected from the game but Mr. Brewer tossed me from the PARK!! In the middle of nowhere. I sure did deserved it.
Mr. Brewer always set expectations and followed up on them. I remember positively slinking into his classroom the next morning, embarassed at my behaviour and armed with an apology note. As always, Mr. Brewer was quick to forgive after a gentle reminder that anything nearing the baseball field meltdown in the classroom would not be tolerated. Funny, engaging and dedicated he made a lasting impression on my public school experience.
May his family and friends find peace after his passing and may he rest in peace.
