Passed away suddenly while enjoying a family camping weekend on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at the age of 62. Beloved husband of Jill (Cunningham) Boyd for 32 years. Cherished father of Amber and Bill Barclay, Lindsey Boyd, Zachary Boyd, and Jacob Boyd. Adored grandpa Snag of Bethany, John, Eli; and Nevaeh. Dear son of Mary Margaret (Trott) Boyd and son-in-law of Joan (Knight) Cunningham. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and SCA family. Predeceased by his father Ross Boyd and his father-in-law Joseph Cunningham.
Mike dedicated over 30 years of his life to London Hydro, where he was known as a loyal and hardworking employee. A man of many passions, Mike had a deep love for history, visiting museums, flint knapping and the natural world. Mike’s adventurous spirit led him and his beloved wife Jill on multiple cruises and countless camping trips with family, where cherished memories were made. One of his greatest joys was his time with his SCA family, participating in spirited battles with the Barbarians. Always eager to lend a helping hand and offer advice. Mike found fulfillment in sharing his vast knowledge, from historical crafts to the wonders of nature. His devotion to family, friends, and lifelong learning left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

We are very sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad and difficult time. Sending hugs.
Mike was the nicest person I’ve ever known. Vividly remember visiting him and his family for a Superbowl game and to play madden on Xbox with his two sons. He was an amazing father teaching everything there was to know about football, answering every question under the sun. Even teaching how to throw a spiral when he had time. Extremely sad news to hear, my prayers are with you guys in this tough time.
I was very sad to hear of Mike’s passing. He was an old friend, and we shared many memorable times together. I will always remember his fascination with the cosmos and human history – passions that truly reflected the curious and thoughtful person he was. These interests were only ever second to his commitment to family.
My condolences go out to Jill and the entire family. I know that Mike will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
To Jill and family, and Joan, Kim, and Tracey and their families. We are sorry to hear this news and offer our condolences.

So sorry to hear about Mike’s passing!
Our paths crossed often at London Hydro where we shared many laughs and had good conversations. Mike often had a smile and most pleasant to be around, working or otherwise.
May the best memories of Mike live on!
To Jill and Family,
Maxine and I were so shocked to learn of Mike’s passing this past weekend. Although I did not see Mike too often over the years, we both knew that we could always call upon each other. I first met Mike at Princess Elizabeth school, where he was a leader on the basketball court and subsequently as a football player at Wheable secondary school. He was ‘all in’ with every thing that he did and earned the respect of those around him.… a larger than life presence.
Sadly, we are away from London on Friday and Saturday and will not be able to offer our condolences in person, but please know that our thoughts have been with you since we heard the startling news today.
I met Mike when my school transferred the grade 7 class to Princess Elizabeth. I remember him at Wheable. And I haven’t seen him since. He was a nice, kind guy. Well liked by everyone. He looked just like he looks in your photo except his hair wasn’t grey. I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. May your memories keep him alive in your hearts and ease your pain.

A personal note for Mike & Family….starting with a Seasonal Quote”…………………….Charles Dickens:
……..”No one is useless in this World who Lightens the Burden of Another……..My Father said that..
…….sorry I missed penning this on the Winter Solstice,a day Important to both of us,so I sent a Prayer instead..seemed appropriate.

“…The Ascension won’t be the same without you..,then again, maybe you can help once more..?.”
..oh before I forget,Thanks with the ‘Alignment of the Standing Stone, due East, that was one Heavy Stone…
…………….2025 Yule,or as You Liked to say… ‘the Festivus”…..I’ll try and Light Up the Stone Circle with Candles for so you can see what it Looks like.
Thanks Mike, your gifts of Knights Templar & Medieval Knowledge was so Helpful with setting the Stone Circle Standing Stone…
Its Finally Finished,We call it the” Lost Christmas Eve..come visit..it may be Our Last year in London, off to TO to be with Family.
