Posted By Haskett Funeral Homes On September 26, 2025 @ 12:01 PM In Obituary,Seaforth | 37 Comments

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Huronview Home for the Aged, Clinton on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the age of 94. Beloved husband of the late Marie (Allan) Bolton (2015) for 59 years. Cherished father of Carl and Valerie Bolton and Jan and the late Alan (2019) Wyman. Adored poppa of Matthew (Tammy), Grant (Lindsay), David (Erin); Jessica (Kyle), and Sam (Michelle), and great-poppa of Reid, Danielle; and Ryker. Fondly remembered by his nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his brother Malcolm “Mac” (Ann) Bolton, brother in-law John (Jean) Allan, parents Russell and Edna (Johnston) and parents-in-law Ross and Beatrice (Pearen) Allan.
After graduating from OAC in 1955, Art worked as Assistant Ag Rep in Huron County, before returning full time to the McKillop family farm. Following in his father’s footsteps, he became a Select Seed Grower, growing, processing and selling Certified Seed to local farmers and as far away as PEI and Manitoba under the trade name R.T. Bolton and Son.
Art was very active in serving his community and country on many associations (often as Chair), Seaforth Ag Society, Huron County 4-H, Ontario Seed Growers, Ontario Pulse Committee, and the Canadian Seed Growers just to name a few. For many years he served as the Federal Returning Officer for the riding of Huron Bruce. He received the Canadian Seed Growers highest award, the Rorbertson Associate Award, Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and was inducted into the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame for his contributions.
He always loved the many family gatherings, classmate reunions and meeting people across the country, when possible, he enjoyed going flying, sailing or building something in the shop.
He lived a full life and will truly be missed.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street, SEAFORTH on Sunday, September 28th from 4 – 6 PM and again on Monday, September 29th from 12 -1 PM where Art’s funeral service will be held at 1 PM. Interment Maitlandbank Cemetery.

Dear Carl and Valerie and families,
We were so sorry to hear about Art’s passing. He was such a dear, friendly soul who always had a great smile and kind greeting for everyone. He truly was a gentle giant who stood tall in the Seaforth community with his many achievements, contributions and knowledge.
With our deepest sympathy,

Sending my condolences Carl, Val, Jan and all family. I had the privilege of working at the election office for a few elections with Art. I admired his dry wit. He could remain calm and helpful despite the chaos at times. Art was a well respected man in his community and in agribusiness community. A life well lived and he certainly made an impact on the world around him.
Eileen and I are so sorry to hear of Art’s passing. We always so looked forward to getting together with Art and Marie at CSGA annual conferences. The world has lost a quiet spoken, dedicated servant to society. We have lost a really good friend and the family has lost a gentle, caring patriarch (he would probably chide me for using such a term for him). He will be fondly remembered and missed by all.
To Carl, Valerie, Jan and families,
Our deepest condolences in the passing of Art. Art was a wonderful man. The best neighbour any one could ever have. Art will be truly missed. Rest in peace.
May your memories keep your hearts happy.
Bill and Regi Whyte

We send our sincere sympathy to Marie, Carl, Jan and your families in the loss of Art. Art was a valuable member of the community and will be sadly missed. Dad treasured Art as a long-time colleague, respected his opinion, and looked forward to their chats. They grew old together and always enjoyed each other’s company.
