BLAKE: Dorothy Ann formerly of Exeter and Lucan

A rich, long, and happy life filled with hard work, love, family, and grace came to a peaceful end on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the age of 92. This closed a chapter for our family when Dorothy passed peacefully in her sleep at Windermere on the Mount, London. Beloved wife of the late Norman Blake (2004). Dorothy is the last of 11 children in the Flanagan family of Clandeboye. Her love and devotion to a well lived life will continue on with her nieces and nephews and their families, her friends, and her neighbours.

Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Saturday, December 29th from 10-11:30 AM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Parish, 32922 Richmond Street, Lucan at 12 noon with Father Ross Bartley, presiding. Interment St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye at a later date.

If desired, donations to Canadian Cancer Society or Ronald McDonald House would be appreciated by the family.

I loved Dorothy. She was the epitome of Elegance and charm and compassion and caring. I started at the London Police Service in February of 1976 and every time I saw her face it brought a smile to mine. Dorothy will be missed but never forgotten. I remember Dorothy as a lovely lady. My dad would sometimes give her a ride home from her job at the London Police. I started there in 79. I think the person I replaced took over for Dorothy when she retired. Glad she had many happy years in retirement.

Condolence from Andrea & Robin Hammond on December 28th, 2018 7:34 PM

I had the extreme pleasure of working with Dorothy at London Police Services in the early 70’s, first at King Street and later at the new headquarters at 601 Dundas Street. I was newly wed to a police officer (Robin) and Dorothy took me under her wing and gave me good advice on how to flourish being a police wife working in the same environment as my husband. Dorothy, I know you would be pleased to know that we did flourish and are still together 50 years later. Thank you sweetheart.

Dorothy and I were back-door neighbours for 10 + years and I enjoyed chatting with her and sharing enjoyment of her flag, and the juniper trees we planted together. Her activity level – walking – in all kinds of weather inspired me. I have missed her since her move to London and will always remember her fondly.
Love Dianne W.

I worked with Dorothy as my partner in the Uniformed Division for many years. She was an absolute gem and loved her to death. I took over her job when she retired and it was big shoes to fill. She will be missed by her family. I had not heard from her in a couple of years and I could not find her. We always met up for lunch at least once a year.
