Condolence from Judy Hill on August 14th, 2023 3:02 PM

I’m so glad I could read the beautiful obituary for Hailey. The pictures are beautiful and a treasure to cherish. She is smiling so nice in your family photo. I couldn’t really share a memory of your darling girl. I really only knew her through your stories and the antidotes of a busy family. I’m so glad to have worked with you that year at AH and felt I had a ringside seat of getting to know your kids, Steph. That may sound strange, I know. But please know my heart breaks with yours, and you are in my thoughts constantly. It’s not much, but it is all we can do to support you. Praying for you daily, Stephanie. Love to you and your family.💕

Condolence from Marj. Barton on August 14th, 2023 3:03 PM

My Precious Hailey,
I have so many treasured memories that will always be with me. I remember when we moved to the farm in 2016 you loved the horse barn that had 4 separate stalls and feed doors that opened in the front of each of them. You made up a game that everyone hid in a stall and one person was at the front and had to try to open the right feed door to catch someone before they could run to another stall.
I am sure you have already got a game to play with Grandpa Barton who you never got to meet He will love playing whatever game you come up with.
I am sure you are at peace now and we will be together again sometime.

Love you forever my darling Granddaughter.

I can’t even imagine what hailey’s family is going through, she was my best friend for 6 years and we did everything together. I thought of her family like my second family and I’m so sorry this is how everything turned out. She was such a smart, beautiful and kind person to be around she never failed to put a smile on your face, she would make you laugh even when you didn’t feel like smiling. Her smile would light up a room and always did. She had an amazing soul and i know every one in her life will miss her deeply she was loved by many. I have so many stories and memories of us, I miss her and her family, you are a great family. Lots of love, stella❤️

Jason, Stephanie and family, our hearts go out to you during this time of sadness! My daughters all grew up with your kids at WNPS and at Stoney Creek. Hailey had dinner here with us, swam in our pool, laughed with our girls. What a beautiful, kind-hearted, hard-working, smart girl we had the pleasure to meet and get to know for too short a time. We are so deeply sorry for your loss. Our door was always open for Hailey, and remains so for the Barton family.

Condolence from Kim Baker (Hutson) on August 14th, 2023 5:29 PM

Jason and Stephanie and Family,
Sending my deepest condolences to you all, may Hailey rest in peace and for ever be your angel. I know a very special boy that I am sure will help her through her next journey until we all meet again .
Although it’s been some time since we have all seen one another, upon talking to my girls Martina immediately remember Hailey and her being in the same swimming class at the outdoor pool in town and Martina didn’t know anyone in the class and was the smallest kid, she remembers that Hailey was the only one that talked to her and was so nice and made her feel more comfortable.💗
Please know you are all in my thoughts and pray while seeking comfort, today and in the coming days and always keep Haileys memories alive.

Condolence from Matthew and Gaby on August 14th, 2023 5:49 PM

To the entire Barton family, there are no words to describe our support to each of you at this time. Hailey was such a beautiful, smart, forward-looking young woman. We saw her grow up through the past few years, and every time she visited, she was first to say hello to “the parents”. She was one of our local “adopted kids” here at our home. She had dreams and plans, knowing what she wanted for her future. Our hearts break for you and the loss you are experiencing, and please know that your community is here. We are here to support you through this, knowing that Hailey will be watching over you from above. She was loved, and will still be in our thoughts daily, as are you. We send you many prayers, thoughts, and reminders that you are not alone. Be strong. With love.

Condolence from Arden McClean on August 14th, 2023 5:53 PM

I had the true pleasure of getting to know Hailey as a young leader who helped bring new opportunities to her community.

She was a special young lady who worked hard and inspired others to get involved.

I will miss seeing her smile when we would run into each other in town. She was a light, and our community it a bit darker without Hailey here.

Sending my love and support to her family and friends. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Condolence from Jenna Gould on August 15th, 2023 3:35 PM

I will always remember Hailey as that smiley grade six girl who showed thoughtfulness and care in all aspects of her life. She was well-spoken, polite, driven, and a kind friend. Hailey looked out for others and was willing to lend a hand or cheer someone up without ever being asked. I smile thinking about the many classes where Hailey was often first (and only) to raise her hand to answer the question or share her idea. This became routine and we would share a smirk every time we waited (with her hand up) to see if anyone else wanted to participate. She was a bright light. My heart sends its deepest condolences to everyone who loved her.

Condolence from Andrea Moyer on August 16th, 2023 7:12 AM

Our sweet, bright, beautiful Hailey.

As a youngster she loved school and was full of curiosity, excitement, and giggles. She was spirited, dare I say devilish, and would often tell me she was having a “best day ever” or “worst day ever” with all the dramatics and arm gestures that came with each. She was always a competitor, whether it was playing on any of the many school sports teams, or when we were just playing Bingo or Mastermind at grandma and grandpa’s house. She had a memory for details that astonished me.

I have loved watching Hailey learn and get excited about new interests. Watching her acting and piano recitals made me proud of her creative side. She was always mature for her age and it became evident as she grew up she had an old soul.

She was smart, articulate, determined, confident, and a natural leader. Her kindness and thoughtfulness shone through when you were in her presence. She took her role as big sister seriously, watching out and being there for her siblings when they needed her.

It’s been my great privilege to be Hailey’s aunt and share in her life. Though I am heartbroken she has left us so soon, the impact she’s made on my life and the lives of everyone around her can’t be measured or put into words.

I will love, miss, and think of Hailey forever.
Rest in the sweetest peace.

Hailey, you were such a light in this world. Always the kind of person you couldn’t help but love. We drifted a lot from when we first became friends, but I always loved you no matter what. I remember the first time I came to your house, we took your bus home and then walked to a near by church and all lied on the ground in a pile. We laughed and smiled the whole time. Even the first time I ever met you, you were the kindest person i’ve ever met. You are so loved and I truly hope you are happy wherever it is you are now. Thank you for being my friend. I will continue to think about the good memories we made, and I hope to see you again one day.

Hailey, our dear niece and cousin,

We are so happy to have had you in our lives even though the time has been far too short.
We have always loved and admired how strong- willed and independent you were. You walked right through your first birthday and did not look back. You were always a special soul. When you were little, your love for bright coloured clothing and fancy skirts always put a smile on our faces. The laughter of you Avery, Colin, Owen, Jaime and Mitch sneaking around with mischief and excitement will live vivid in our memories forever. Life will never be the same, but we will create new memories with you in spirit always. Sweet girl, we are heartbroken and words cannot express the loss we feel. You are now our angel that we know will always be with us, and that gives us so much peace and comfort. We love you Hailey!

Jason, Stephanie, Colin, Jaime and Mitch, the world has taken a part of you and our hearts are aching with yours. We love you all so much and will always be here. We send you strength for the days ahead and warmth to surround her memories that will live on forever.

Rest In Peace Hailey xoxo

Condolence from Laura McConnell on August 16th, 2023 1:14 PM

My deepest sympathies to the entire Barton family and those who had the great privilege of knowing this lovely young lady!

My daughter Katelyn Gourlay was indeed one of Hailey’s best friends. When Katelyn transferred to West Nissouri P.S she was nervous she’d never meet a new best friend. The day she met Hailey she knew they’d be best friends! Hailey’s wild fun and charming personality was just what Katelyn needed. They had countless sleep overs, played soccer, and shared a memorable camping experience.
She was one of my favourite people, her passing will leave a mark on me and Katelyn forever.

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Hailey’s passing. I had the pleasure of teaching Hailey in grade 10. I remember her as a kind and bright young woman and can still picture her laughing with her friends in my history class. My deepest sympathies to Hailey’s family and friends during this time of tragedy. There are no words that can begin to describe the loss. I hope you will be able to lean on each other for support and love as you grieve. Please know I am holding all of you in my thoughts.

Condolence from Maitlyn Hsia on August 16th, 2023 2:17 PM

Dear Family & Friends,

I am so deeply sorry for your loss and wish you strength and comfort through this difficult time.

I met Haily while setting up for Medway’s semi-formal this past year. She was extremely nice and we talked about our futures after high school; she wanted to be a nurse. Despite our age difference, she treated me as an equal and invited me to sit with her. She even offered me her phone so I could call my mom as I had forgotten my phone that day. She was the first older student to make me feel welcome and have a genuine conversation with me and for that, I am tremendously grateful.

I wish you all the best at this time.

My deepest condolences,

Maitlyn Hsia

Condolence from Dana Kajan on August 16th, 2023 5:07 PM

Thinking of you all. I had the pleasure of often driving Hailey to the medway rock climbing club. We had some great conversations and it was a joy to have her in our club. Although I didn’t teach her in a classroom, I was able to spend time with her on the Rockwall, what a beautiful soul that has left this world far too soon. Sending love and prayers.

I remember her first favourite song. The Cave by Mumford and Sons, she would sing the lyrics as loud as she could. Our deepest condolences to your family.

Condolence from Lucy McGlynn on August 16th, 2023 9:19 PM

Hailey and I met at original kids in 2018, we had our first ever production together. We both joined theatre not knowing a soul. One weekend we ran into each other at the mall recognizing one another, but we were so shy we both didn’t say anything in the moment. Though, at our next rehearsal we gravitated towards each other and began to talk, and from then on our friendship blossomed. When we learned we were going to both be at medway we were ecstatic. Hailey was the kind of friend who always made you feel special. She was the kindest most caring girl. Her wittiness and kind nature made any moment with her memorable. I will forever wish for one more hangout with Hailey, one more laugh. Until we meet again hailey, I love you forever and always.

My most sincere condolences to your family.

Our Sweet Hailey,

You’ve always been a mischievous bright light. We were at the hospital on the day you were born and have watched you grow and become an amazing young woman.

I remember the first play we went to see you in. Your part had you holding a flashlight and when you spotted us in the audience, with a big smile on your face, you would shine the light on us. We’d laugh and motion to you to take the light off of us. A few moments later you would shine the light back onto us again to everyones amusement.

When Mom and Dad were moving your family from Owen Sound to Thorndale, you came to the cottage with us while they were packing. We had you all to ourselves and had such a good time swimming, playing games, boat rides and fishing. I remember when Grandpa caught a large fish and it fell off the hook while lifting it into the boat. We screamed and laughed and jumped up onto the seats while the fish was flopping around.

As you got older, I always looked forward to our chats in the car while I picked you up from school.

We are heartbroken that you have left us so soon. You were a kind, sweet soul and will always stay close to our hearts.

Love,
Grandma and Grandpa xoxo

Stephanie, Jason, Colin, Jamie and Mitch,

My love goes out to all of you at this tragic and unexpected loss. Please accept my condolences. Hailey was a kind and gentle spirit who will forever be remembered in our hearts. I always enjoyed the family gatherings seeing the cousins playing together, dressing up in old costumes and the antics and funny faces during the family picture taking. I’m honoured to have proudly called Hailey
my great niece – such a sweetheart! You are in my thoughts and surrounding the family with support and strength.

With deepest love, sympathy and prayers – Aunt Beth

Condolence from Vivi, Charlotte and Nate on August 17th, 2023 8:22 AM

Jason, Stephanie and Family,

We are deeply sorry for your loss of sweet Hailey. She was a smart, kind, creative, industrious human. She filled our house with so much warmth, laughter and silliness when her and Vivi would dance, act, craft or whatever activity Vivi would have in store for her on the daily.

In the early days of the pandemic, when there were very little resources to offer support, Hailey arrived on our doorstep and was so very helpful. She made an uncertain time feel less challenging for us all, especially Vivi.

We will miss her always. Our thoughts are with you.

I was shocked and saddened to hear this news. Hailey was always a positive presence in music class, a hard worker with a great attitude who always showed her love of music. It is a such a tremendous loss for your family, and one that will be felt deeply by so many of her friends, teachers and peers at Medway.

Wishing you strength in what must be such an impossibly difficult time.

Jason,Stephanie,Colin,Jamie & Mitchell,

No one could ever be prepared for such a devastating tragedy. There are no words ….. My heart is broken.I cannot imagine the pain you are feeling. Know that each of you are loved, and in my prayers for healing. I am always here for anything I can do to support your family.
I am so grateful I got to spend time with Hailey during my visit to London in May. Living so far away, I didn’t get to know Hailey as well as other family. Each time we met she was bright, smiling, a little mischievous at times, loved a little drama, and playing games. This visit in May I could see how much she had matured and I could really feel that “old soul” . She was excited about going back for her last year of high school with the prospect of checking out colleges for a career in nursing. She was proud that she had passed her driving test and very excited that she had her own wheels!!!Hailey, you were a beautiful smart young woman who left us way too soon. God Speed.

Condolence from Madi Roberts on August 18th, 2023 3:33 PM

Hailey was a very kind and thoughtful friend. We both met each other at Original Kids Theatre Company, and we did a show together. It was called “Beat Bugs”, where she was the queen bee, and I was the silly bug guitarist. I remember Hailey being a very talented performer. I was fortunate enough to get to know her through that production, and we were happy to find out we were both attending Medway when grade 9 was approaching us. Hailey was nothing but the sweetest. My deepest condolences to her family. I’ll miss you Hailey, thank you for being such a bright light.

As I read all the condolences and memories of Hailey, I know she was a special girl much loved by friends, teachers and family. Stephanie, Jason , Marjorie and family know that we cannot fathom your grief but know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. I found a poem that I felt was touching called “Little Wing”. It ends with
Fly, fly little wing
Fly where only angels sing
Fly away, the time is right
Go now, find the light

Condolence from Davina on October 12th, 2023 7:54 PM

I met Hailey in grade 11, when our teacher randomly sat us together. I had two classes with her that semester. We did a bunch of our work together and helped each other with projects we were assigned. I was so shocked and saddened to hear of her passing. She always welcomed me with the biggest smile, and was easy to talk to. Hailey was an incredible person and she will be missed by so many.

Our condolences to your entire family, we’ve been thinking of you. Thank you for being such a bright light, Hailey.

Condolence from Liza Hobyan on March 7th, 2024 6:06 PM

I’ve been putting this off for a long time… When I heard about the news I was at work. I couldn’t believe it. I just sat there, and then I started crying. Hailey and I used to be best friends. I met her in elementary school. As I sat there, crying, every memory of us came back. I remembered her laugh (my absolute favorite thing about her), I remembered all the outfits she used to wear, I remembered those running shoes she lowkey hated, but she needed them for extra support. They had like a big heel in them? I remembered all of of our sleepovers. This one time my mom dropped me off at her house and she said, “Don’t do anything dumb. Use your manners… and don’t watch any inappropriate movies!” Hailey and I ended up watching Twilight! At the time it was inappropriate for us. She liked Edward, I was team Jacob (we always argued about it). Our sleepovers often went like this, Hailey: “We’re staying up all night!” Me: “YES ALL NIGHT!” And then she would pass out. She always fell asleep first. Another time we had a sleepover she was like “Liza… I need to make you cookie dough balls. Trust me they’re so good.” Hailey made them for me and they became my new favorite thing. Even after we stopped being friends, there were so many things that reminded me of her. I would see an elephant stuffy and I thought of Hailey. We went to the DQ in Masonville Mall, and now anytime I’m there I think of her. Anytime I drive by her house, I’ll catch myself looking at it. It’s been a few months now, but all I can think about is her. I just see us as kids, it replays in my head often and I would like to always keep it that way, but it makes me horribly sad. In grade 9 I believe, Hailey actually reached out. She texted me apologizing for letting our friendship go, she said she regretted it and she was going through some things. I think about that night a lot. A part of me thinks I should have asked her if she was alright… but instead I just forgave her. I’m glad I did, but maybe I should have asked to hangout or something. I have an interview at Camp Kee-Mo-Kee this weekend and I’m thinking about her even more. We went to that camp together once. For a week. It was a sleepover one. I believe she even worked there at point. Yes we stopped being friends, but I still cared about her so much. Hailey was smart, funny, generous, caring and such a beautiful person inside and out. I’m glad to have met her and been in her life even if it was only for a couple of years. Thank you for all the memories sweet girl. And I’m so sorry Mr. and Mrs. Barton, Colin, Jaime and Mitchell.
