Condolence from Merv & Dawne Erb on October 1st, 2016 8:00 AM

“Some people will do anything to get out of going to work”. Yup, that&&single&&s a wisecrack that Barry would make. Barry always had good one-liners and great come-backs. And what a memory. He knew every short cut, every back road from Bothwell to Renfrew. I first met Barry in 1974 but never got to know him well until he started to work for me two years ago. And that&&single&&s when I got to know Ian, a real chip off the old block. Barry was a joy to be around as so many others here have mentioned and you heard his laugh in a room long before you saw him. I&&single&&ve been fortunate to have good people over the years. This one&&single&&s going to hurt. A loyal guy and involved in his community. Our sympathies to his family and to Kara.

Condolence from Carol & Theo Kissler on October 1st, 2016 9:00 AM

Condolence from Jim O&&single&&Toole on October 1st, 2016 11:00 AM

I was shocked to hear that Barry had passed away. He will be missed greatly by his family and his many many friends and contacts. I first met Barry at Centralia College. He was the kind of student every prof would like the classroom to be full of. Not so sure the residence supervisors would say the same. Don&&single&&t think he studied all the time. Barry has put a smile on many faces and has done an exemplary job to improve the agricultural industry of Ontario. I will miss our frequent chance encounters. My sympathy to the whole family.

Condolence from Mary Anne McNichol on October 1st, 2016 11:00 AM

You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Too soon Barry, too soon. Your intellect and infectious laughter, keen insight, wit and dedication will be sadly missed by the agricultural community and all of the many of us lucky enough to be acquainted with you over so many years. I know you would joke about the size of the space you leave behind at the table – but this one is real, and it stings. Too soon Lord…too soon.

Santa is gone! We were so sad to hear of your Dad&&single&&s passing Christina, Amy and Ian. Barry was our kids only Santa (so many pictures on his knee), Evan&&single&&s plow coach, a work mate, a heck of a two stepper and most of all, he and Pam were friends. When we got together there was always a proud update of what his kids were up to, news of his latest community project, a joke, straight from the heart conversation and that laugh! Santa has left some very big boots to fill but he brought us a sack full of great memories.

Friendship
&&single&&Tis the human touch in this world that counts,
The touch of your hand and mine,
Which means far more to the fainting heart
Than shelter and bread and wine;
For shelter is gone when the night is o&&single&&er,
And bread last only a day,
But the touch of the hand and the sound of the voice
Sing on in the soul always.

There are people that pass through your life and however brief that passing may be, leave an impression. I had known of Barry before he became our C&M Seeds Sales Rep, but had not met him. Once I did, he became one of those people you just liked spending time with. I looked forward to his visits. His positive, happy demeanor, his genuine nature and his caring attitude only complimented his wisdom of agriculture. He spoke often of Pam and her health battles. I just really enjoyed Barry&&single&&s presence, just as so many others here have expressed. Thoughts and prayers to his family – may your many happy memories of Barry comfort you through your sorrow. I&&single&&m certain that there is a special place in heaven for people like Barry who light up a room and bring smiles to everyone around him.
