AUSTIN: Donald “Don” formerly of Point Clark and Waterloo

Peacefully at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Bracebridge on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, formerly of Point Clark and Waterloo, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Delores “Tina” (Becker) Austin (2005). Cherished father of the late Christine (2012), and Sherry and her husband Bob. Proud grandpa of Kyle Holmes, Wesley Holmes, Jason Colliver (Josh), and Stacey Colliver (Mike). Fondly remembered by his niece Carol Kelly (Steve), nephew Murray Kelly (Glenyce), and the Becker family. Predeceased by his sister Doreen.

Don and Delores raised their family in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. In 1989, Don retired from BF Goodrich, and together, he and Tina moved to Point Clark. Always wanting to keep busy, Don started his own lawn maintenance business, which he ran for over 25 years. When it finally came time for retirement, Don moved to Huntsville in 2019 to be closer to family. He will be remembered for instilling love, and hard work into those he loved.

A private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 2nd. Interment Clinton Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Haskett Funeral Home, Seaforth (519-527-1390).

Donations to The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

To the Austin Family – sending deepest condolences. I met Donnie at Point Clark when I was a friend of Fred Schneider’s. I remember Don coming to trim Fred’s cedar hedge – I was amazed at his strength and reflexes at his age. When trying to decide what to give Fred on his 80th birthday – I decided a airplane drive would be a great gift. Since the little plane held 4 – we invited Donnie to come along for the ride. I’m pretty sure he enjoyed his ride. Flying from Kincardine airport to Goderich and back again on a wonderful summer day was awesome. Since Fred left Point Clark and returned to Waterloo where he passed away 4 years ago – a lot of changes have taken place in Point Clark. I know Donnie really missed his wife when she died- and now to think they are now together again. A couple of angels and bright stars to watch over us all.
